"Hey, Hinata, why hasn't Neji come to see you today?"
Naruto poked his cheek with his pen, tilting his head toward Hinata as he spoke.
"Hmm, I don't know. Usually, Neji would come tell me what time he's leaving today around now."
Since Neji and Hinata both attended the academy, once Neji had gotten a little older, he had basically become the one who walked Hinata home.
Although Blondie occasionally butted in, Neji handled the escorting most of the time.
Safety wasn't really the issue. It was simply better to have someone to walk with.

"Um, Lady Hinata, I might be home a little late tonight."
"Could you please let my father know? Thank you very much."
Looking at the overly serious Neji, Hinata patted his shoulder helplessly.
"Oh, Neji, it's okay."
"But what are you going to do tonight?"
"Of course, if you can't say, that's fine."
I'm curious. Why does Neji have something to do tonight? Doesn't he usually go straight back to the clan compound?
Blondie's ears unconsciously perked up too, and his eyes darted over.
"It's nothing much, really. I'm just going to train with... some classmates."
Neji thought for a moment before answering.
"I see. Um, will there be any girls?"
Hinata nodded, then tilted her head and asked.
Her eyes were filled with the same thing usually found in Ino's: a yearning for juicy gossip.
Uh.
Neji didn't know why Lady Hinata would ask a question like that, and that gossip-hungry look in her eyes...
"Yes, Tenten is coming too."
Neji said it openly, then shot Blondie a fierce glare.
