"So, is it ready?"
Toneri looked toward Orochimaru behind Tobirama. His special way of "seeing" allowed him to perceive things ordinary people could not.
"Yes."
Tobirama nodded and gestured to Orochimaru.
Understanding, Orochimaru took out the pair of cultivated and purified Byakugan.
"Give them a try."
Tobirama spoke to Toneri.
Toneri took the test tube. After hesitating a moment, he asked Hiashi to lend him a side room for the eye transplant.
Orochimaru deftly pulled the Eye Replacement Kit out of a scroll, then looked at Toneri, whose eyes were still covered by a silk band.
"Take off that silk band."
Orochimaru spoke to Toneri very patiently.
"Oh, all right."
Toneri nodded, raised his hands, and slowly untied the silk band that had been with him for who knew how long.
As the silk band fell away, his entire face finally appeared before Tobirama and Orochimaru.
"Quite handsome."
Orochimaru offered an objective assessment. The Ōtsutsuki Clan on the moon generally had relatively pure bloodlines, so their skin was closer to the pale complexion of the extraterrestrial Ōtsutsuki.
Toneri's remaining facial features were delicate, too, making him look like a porcelain doll.
Were the eyes I cultivated going to be placed in this face?
For some reason, Orochimaru felt as though he were playing with some sort of building blocks, and he smiled involuntarily.
"What's wrong?"
Tobirama was a little puzzled.
Orochimaru shook his head and replied:
"Nothing. I just thought of something amusing."
"If I put the eyes in backward, would Toneri end up cross-eyed?"
He offered this very humorous joke, or at least he thought it was.
Tobirama and Toneri both fell silent.
That fell a little flat.
"Just kidding."
Orochimaru did not seem embarrassed by their reaction. He smiled, then said to Toneri:
"I'm going to start now."
