The host's words immediately sent the entire venue into an uproar.
Everyone present was familiar with that announcement.
Usually, once those words were spoken, the final bidder would win.
In previous cases, however, the final bidder had offered something unique and rare that the seller desperately needed. That was why the special value assessment rule had been invoked to determine the winner.
All Sea Cannon had offered were commonplace Abyssal Sea Fragments and low-grade relics. What unique value did those have?
"Wait! I can negotiate too! I can offer low-grade relics too!" one of the earlier bidders immediately shouted.
"Sorry, the seller specifically stated that this rule applies not to the items offered, but solely to the bidder, Mr. 'Sea Cannon' Chuck," the host said, cutting him off.
"This-this is rigged!" Hearing that, the earlier bidder immediately understood what was happening and protested on the spot.
Unfortunately, his protest was useless. The seller was free to sell however they pleased.
Sea Cannon Chuck sneered, the corners of his mouth lifting as he watched the protesting bidder.
He knew that bidder, a Veteran Player from the same batch as him who was also at Six-Star S-rank.
But unlike Chuck, an unlucky man who had been stuck at Six-Star S-rank for years because he could not get a top-tier relic, that bidder was widely acknowledged to be lucky.
His strength, intelligence, and emotional intelligence were all mediocre, but his luck was good. He had reached Six-Star S-rank at the very last moment of the game and found a bug he could exploit.
After awakening, the man had somehow acquired a large number of Abyssal Sea Fragments, just enough to buy this Eternal Compass and advance further.
He was practically Sea Cannon Chuck's polar opposite.
