Deva Path Pain and Naraka Path stood in the middle of the ruins.
Of the Six Paths, only two remained.
Deva Path took half a step back, shielding Naraka Path behind him. At last, something changed on Yahiko's impassive face-not anger, but calculation.
Naraka Path slammed both palms onto the ground. A fissure opened, and a gigantic phantom King of Hell rose from it, its gaping maw ready to swallow the scattered remains of the other Pains to repair and reassemble them.
Goten glanced at the King of Hell's mouth, then at Naraka Path dragging the remains backward.
"Oh, you can repair them?"
His figure flickered.
There was no running start, no surge of chakra. Even the wind had no time to stir.
Goten was already standing in front of Naraka Path.
Deva Path's Rinnegan eyes suddenly widened.
"Shinra Tensei."
An overwhelming repulsive force erupted in every direction from Deva Path. Three layers of ground were torn up, rubble and steel shrieked into the sky, and the surrounding buildings still standing toppled outward in unison.
The wave of repulsion struck Goten square in the chest.
The hem of his black training outfit lifted, the fabric snapping to reveal his clearly defined abs and the Ramen Badge on his chest.
Goten stood exactly where he was, without budging.
Then he stepped forward.
One step.
The steel pipe beneath his foot was crushed badly out of shape, the metal giving a pained creak.
Two steps.
The repulsive force split in two before him and swept around either side. The ruins behind him were blown to pieces, but he remained as steady as though nailed to the ground.
Three steps.
Deva Path pushed his chakra output to its limit. Veins bulged on his forehead, and his whole body trembled.
It was useless.
