Ch. 41Reinforcements for the Lightning-Fire battlefield, part two

Itō Yuying used his Space-Stilling Formation to immobilize the Kumogakure ninja, allowing Konoha to defeat them before Tobirama Senju arrived to confront the Second Raikage. Tobirama demanded compensation and Kumogakure’s withdrawal, while Yuying admired his authority and resolved to grow stronger.

  • Ginkaku nearly killed Shimura Danzō, but Itō Yuying rescued him with a Senzu Bean and joined him in fighting Ginkaku.
  • As Konoha reinforcements fell to Ginkaku, Itō Yuying activated Time Stop and froze the Kumogakure ninja while leaving Konoha unaffected.
  • Hiruzen Sarutobi moved to kill Kinkaku, but the Second Raikage intervened and asked Konoha to spare the brothers.
  • Itō Yuying brought Tobirama Senju to the battlefield, where Tobirama learned how the formation worked and had Yuying record the Raikage’s ki.
  • Tobirama demanded three thousand jin of chakra metal, five hundred million in compensation, and Kumogakure’s withdrawal; the future Third Raikage protested but backed down under Tobirama’s pressure.

Ch. 42Negotiations

Tobirama Senju forced the Raikage and Kinkaku and Ginkaku into separate deals, using Itō Yuying’s power to pressure them. After arranging to let the factions wear each other down, Tobirama punished Kinkaku and Ginkaku when their payment came up short, then allowed them to leave.

  • When the Raikage refused Tobirama Senju’s demands, Tobirama injured him and made him agree to pay Konoha compensation.
  • B attacked Tobirama, who severed B’s arm and released the Eight-Tails; Itō Yuying sent the beast to Kumogakure, then reported a bloody scene and heavy losses.
  • Tobirama demanded the Six Paths Tools, two hundred million in compensation, and one thousand jin of chakra metal from Kinkaku and Ginkaku, who agreed to the terms.
  • Tobirama told Itō Yuying that he planned to release Kinkaku and Ginkaku and exploit the factions’ conflicting ideals to keep them divided.
  • When Kinkaku and Ginkaku’s delivery was five hundred jin short, Tobirama rejected the Raikage’s attempt to make up the difference and had Shimura Danzō cut off Ginkaku’s arm before letting them leave.

Ch. 43A bountiful haul

Itō Yuying returned to the Konoha camp, where Tobirama Senju prepared to negotiate with the Land of Earth after Konoha’s victories. The Iwa settlement secured compensation and a withdrawal, while Kinkaku and Ginkaku began plotting to kill Yuying.

  • Tobirama Senju praised Itō Yuying at a banquet and said they would return to Konoha after collecting compensation from the Land of Earth.
  • The Raikage and the future Third Raikage learned that Itō Yuying had caused the tailed beast attacks on both Kumogakure and Iwagakure, while Kinkaku and Ginkaku discussed recruiting Iwa ninja to help kill him.

Ch. 44Back to the village

Itō Yuying returned to Konoha, reunited with his grandparents, and introduced a Gravity Chamber to his friends and Tobirama Senju. The chapter ended with Tobirama trying eight times gravity and suffering severe injuries.

  • Itō Yuying and the others returned to Konoha, where he visited his grandparents and shared a celebratory meal with them.
  • Itō Yuying brought out the Gravity Chamber at the training ground and explained how it worked to Might Duy.
  • Itō Yuying tried ten times gravity, struggled to stand, and learned from the system how the chamber trained the whole body.
  • Itō Yuying let his friends try twice gravity, but they collapsed and suffered bleeding before he quickly switched it off.
  • Itō Yuying trained at five times gravity while his friends watched, and Tobirama Senju later visited the chamber.
  • Tobirama Senju selected eight times gravity, was pinned to the floor, and broke bones that pierced through his flesh.

Ch. 45The plan

Itō Yuying rescued Tobirama Senju and the others from the Gravity Chamber, prompting Tobirama to establish a secret training department under Yuying’s leadership. After the new grounds were completed, Yuying explained how he would safeguard Ki training and revealed that cultivated Ki could eventually be inherited.

  • Shimura Danzō stopped Hiruzen Sarutobi from entering the Gravity Chamber, and Hiruzen fetched Itō Yuying to shut it off and revive Tobirama Senju with a Senzu Bean.
  • Itō Yuying described the Gravity Chamber, and Tobirama Senju assigned Orochimaru to help research it.
  • Tobirama Senju designated the training ground as secret, appointed Itō Yuying to lead a new department, and ordered him to oversee its trainees.
  • Months later, Itō Yuying and the others returned to find the expansive training grounds completed, with facilities including laboratories, a hospital, and space for hundreds of Gravity Chambers.
  • Itō Yuying told Tobirama Senju he could control the Ki given to future students to prevent spies from using it, then revealed that sufficiently cultivated Ki could be passed to the next generation beyond his control.

Ch. 46A meeting

Itō Yuying and Tobirama Senju announced a new Konoha department to train selected children and adult shinobi in Ki and other techniques. The clan heads left to consider the strict selection and training rules for the Konoha Elite Training Base, which was scheduled to begin enrolling students in five years.

  • Hiruzen Sarutobi, Shimura Danzō, and Tobirama Senju improved their flight through training, while Itō Yuying reached the ability to withstand eight times normal gravity.
  • Tobirama Senju summoned Itō Yuying, his students, and Konoha's clan heads to discuss establishing a new training department.
  • Tobirama Senju explained that the department would recruit outstanding Ninja Academy students and selected Jōnin, with enrollment set for five years later and seals required to guard against spies and traitors.
  • Itō Yuying warned the clan heads not to mistreat rejected candidates, send pampered recruits, or let selected trainees leave without permission, outlining penalties for violations.
  • Itō Yuying named the new department the Konoha Elite Training Base, and Tobirama Senju adjourned the meeting.

Ch. 47The clans make their moves

The clans agreed to cooperate with the training base, while their members dealt with new attention and matchmaking offers. Jiraiya, Orochimaru, and Might Duy ended up training together at the grounds after crowds made their homes difficult to return to.

  • The Uchiha Clan Head shut down objections, assigned Uchiha Hanyue to handle selection, and excluded the objector’s descendants.
  • Hyuga Yeyang received responsibility for selection after most of the Hyuga Clan agreed to cooperate, while Hatake Sakumo’s clan turned to discussing its next steps.
  • Tobirama Senju teased Tsunade about Itō Yuying, and Might Wei encouraged Might Duy to meet girls sent by other clans.
  • Jiraiya ate ramen before escaping people who were trying to arrange a meeting for him, then found Orochimaru avoiding crowds at home.
  • Jiraiya and Orochimaru joined Might Duy at the training grounds, where all three trained and Might Duy explained the Flight Technique.

Ch. 48Five years later

Itō Yuying ended five years of brutal special training, leaving his students vastly stronger ahead of the Elite Training Base’s opening in ten days. As the trainees went home to rest, Konoha Academy students discussed applying and worried about the harsh selection and training.

  • Itō Yuying told the trainees they would spend five years in special training to prove the Elite Training Base’s worth when it opened.
  • Over the next five years, Itō Yuying pushed the trainees through lethal exercises, repeatedly restoring their injuries with Senzu Beans; Uchiha Hanyue awakened his Mangekyō during the ordeal.
  • Itō Yuying declared the training complete, told everyone to return in eight days, and watched them fly home; he then visited Yiteng Yue and asked for a meat feast instead of kelp.
  • Konoha Academy students discussed signing up for the base, while Hyuga Hiashi and Hizashi Hyuga bristled at Uchiha Fugaku’s prospects and Fugaku said he would endure the demanding assessment.

Ch. 49Warming up before the unveiling, part one

  • After dismissal, the four seniors took their young relatives flying home while their classmates watched enviously.
  • Itō Yuying ate his grandfather Yiteng Yue's meal, then handed him money; Yiteng Yue immediately cheered up before sending Yuying away.

Ch. 50Warming up before the unveiling, part two

Itō Yuying organized a lesson at Training Ground One to introduce Konoha students to ki and promote the Konoha Elite Training Base. After demonstrating ki’s abilities, he began a sparring match between Jiraiya and Might Duy, leaving the students eager to join the base.

  • Itō Yuying agreed with Hatake Sakumo to use a school lesson to showcase the training base, while Tobirama Senju and Hiruzen Sarutobi decided to observe.
  • Itō Yuying and Tsunade met Xinchang Yishui at the school, and Itō Yuying offered to transport the students to Training Ground One with Instant Transmission.
  • Itō Yuying teleported more than three hundred students and their teachers to Training Ground One, where he explained that ki did not require chakra and described the training base’s admission criteria.
  • Itō Yuying demonstrated ki by sensing, levitating a bag of chips and a student, and creating an energy blast that exploded in a distant forest.
  • Itō Yuying introduced a spar between Jiraiya and Might Duy, whose rapid movements and sonic booms astonished the students and made them more eager to join the training base.

Ch. 51Sparring

Jiraiya and Might Duy fought in a destructive sparring match, with Duy ultimately defeating Jiraiya after he used his new technique to evade Duy’s attacks. After Jiraiya recovered, Itō Yuying welcomed Tobirama Senju to address the cheering students.

  • Jiraiya and Might Duy exchanged rapid attacks, and Duy deflected Jiraiya’s Energy Wave while Jiraiya unleashed his self-developed technique.
  • Might Duy opened the fourth gate and struck what appeared to be Jiraiya, but the Jiraiya he hit was a Shadow Clone.

  • Might Duy caught the injured Jiraiya and revived him with a Senzu Bean, and Jiraiya returned after changing clothes.
  • Itō Yuying praised the fighters and invited Tobirama Senju to speak, and he appeared beside her as the students cheered.

Ch. 52The Unveiling and Entrance Test

Itō Yuying and Tobirama Senju opened the Konoha Elite Training Base and began its entrance test, a physical endurance course for more than a hundred candidates. The students struggled through the obstacles, and the chapter ended as Uchiha Fugaku, Hatake Feiyu, Senju Zuomu, and others entered a crocodile-filled river.

  • Tobirama Senju announced that the base would teach Ki and that only twenty students would be accepted after a three-stage test.
  • Nine days later, Tobirama Senju and Itō Yuying unveiled the Konoha Elite Training Base, and Might Duy led the candidates inside.
  • Itō Yuying explained the first test: candidates had to carry logs through a marked obstacle course without using chakra, losing their logs, or helping one another.
  • Uchiha Fugaku charged ahead but became stuck at a sheer mountain, while Nara Shiya showed the candidates how to scrape handholds into its surface.
  • A sturdy child reached a crocodile-filled river first, was bitten, and was rescued after other candidates followed into the water.

Ch. 53The test

The candidates completed the obstacle course, with thirty-five reaching the finish line, and began a hunting test in a vast forest. Hatake Feiyu fought wolves while Orochimaru caught a candidate joking about killing animals and nearly eliminated him.

  • Hizashi Hyuga and Hyuga Hiashi climbed the waterfall, while Hatake Feiyu and Nara Shino found ways to scale the slick rock face.
  • Hatake Feiyu reached the marsh first and crossed it using steel wire, as Senju Zuomu and the other candidates struggled behind him.
  • Uchiha Fugaku repeatedly fell into the swamp, crawled across it with his wire, and finally sprinted to the finish line covered in mud; thirty-five candidates qualified.
  • Orochimaru assigned the candidates to hunt specified numbers of animals in the forest within four hours, and the observers planned a bonfire feast with their catch.
  • Hatake Feiyu fought and killed a wolf king, causing the remaining wolves to flee.
  • Orochimaru caught a candidate pretending to hunt small animals and threatened to eliminate him, but let him continue after the boy pleaded for another chance.

Ch. 54Test results

Senju Zuomu, the Hyuga brothers, and Uchiha Fugaku completed the forest hunting test, and the candidates received treatment for their injuries. Tsunade announced a final challenge to retrieve their Base Emblems from bamboo poles in a lake before they could officially join the Practical Training Base.

  • Senju Zuomu feigned death to escape a giant python, then killed it with his kunai.
  • Hyuga Hiashi and Hizashi fought off wild boars and a pack of wolves after Hiashi left to check his trap.
  • Uchiha Fugaku endured a beating from monkeys, ambushed stragglers to finish his task, and became the first candidate to return.
  • Uchiha Hanyue photographed Fugaku and gave him medicine that healed his injuries; Tsunade later healed the other candidates.
  • Tsunade set the final test: the candidates had to retrieve their Base Emblems from fifteen thousand-meter bamboo poles in a lake without damaging or toppling them.

Ch. 55Successfully admitted

The fifteen youths passed the final test and were admitted to Itō Yuying’s training group, then went home for a three-day break. As they reunited with their families, Itō Yuying’s group identified spies among the villagers, and Tian Qiran was confronted by men who threatened his father to steal his badge.

  • The youths climbed the swaying bamboo poles, and Nara Shino used his Shadow Imitation Technique to take a badge before Hanazawa Kazuo and the others reached the tops.
  • Itō Yuying verified the returning youths’ badges, welcomed all fifteen as companions, and gave them three days to visit their families before training began.
  • The group introduced themselves, then Jiraiya and Tsunade led the boys and girls to their dormitories.
  • The youths left the base the next morning, while Itō Yuying and the others identified thirty-four spies and dispatched a dozen or so people to kill them quietly.
  • Tian Qiran left with his proud father, defeated five men who tried to take his badge, and faced their leader after the man threatened his father.

Ch. 56Catching spies and stirring up Sunagakure

Itō Yuying rescued his students’ injured family members, then took his students to Sunagakure to retaliate against the spies’ village. After fighting Sunagakure’s leaders and Bunpuku, he left the village devastated, and Shukaku began to emerge.

  • Jiraiya rescued Tian Qiran and treated his injured father, while Itō Yuying gathered reports about the spies who had attacked his students’ families.
  • Itō Yuying asked Tobirama Senju to identify the spies’ villages, and Tobirama ordered an investigation; Murakami Amekazu and Hanazawa Kazuo returned home to celebrate with their families.
  • Three days later, Itō Yuying took his students to Sunagakure and attacked the Second Kazekage, the future Third Kazekage, Chiyo, and Ebizo.
  • Shamon confronted Itō Yuying, who said he had come to avenge his students and relayed Tobirama’s warning about Sunagakure’s actions.
  • Bunpuku drove Itō Yuying out of Sunagakure with Wind Release, but Itō Yuying counterattacked and blasted a vast crater into the landscape with a Kamehameha.
  • Bunpuku called on Shukaku, and shrill laughter sounded from within his body.

Ch. 57Raising hell

Itō Yuying defeated Shukaku and forced Sunagakure to accept Konoha’s demands before leading his group to the Land of Grass. He told Nara Shino that several villages were forming an alliance against Konoha and urged the fifteen youngsters to train for the future.

  • Bunpuku released Shukaku, who agreed to defend Sunagakure and attacked Itō Yuying with sand and Drilling Air Bullets.
  • Itō Yuying pierced Shukaku with Energy Waves, then kicked Shukaku’s Tailed Beast Bomb away before Shukaku retreated into Bunpuku.
  • Itō Yuying cut down charging Sand shinobi with a Destructo Disc, and Shamon agreed to Konoha’s demands to stop the assault.
  • Itō Yuying’s group traveled to the Land of Grass, where Orochimaru and the others went to bring its leader to apologize.
  • Itō Yuying told Nara Shino that Iwagakure, Kumogakure, Sunagakure, the Land of Grass, and the Land of Rain were involved in plans to attack Konoha, and he urged the youngsters to train hard.

Ch. 58The shinobi world in shock

Itō Yuying forced the leaders of the Land of Grass and Amegakure to surrender after demonstrating his overwhelming power. Back in Konoha, he reported to Tobirama Senju as the other nations grew alarmed and the Tsuchikage and Raikage discussed rising tensions.

  • Itō Yuying intimidated the leader of the Land of Grass into admitting he had joined forces against Konoha and ordered him to negotiate with Konoha’s border commander.
  • Itō Yuying fought Hanzō, survived his poison with a Senzu Bean, defeated him and Ibuse, and secured Hanzō’s promise to discuss terms with Konoha.
  • Itō Yuying returned to Konoha, left Sakumo to train the youngsters, and spent two hours briefing Tobirama Senju.
  • Second Tsuchikage Mu and Ōnoki worried about Konoha’s growing strength, and Mu asked Ōnoki to contact the Raikage.
  • The Tsuchikage and the Raikage met aboard a ship, compared reports of Konoha probing their borders, and agreed that diplomacy was their only current option.

Ch. 59The fifteen little ones train

Itō Yuying oversaw the fifteen children’s brutal training and explained that repeated near-death experiences could help them awaken Ki. After learning that Cloud and Stone envoys had negotiated peace with Tobirama Senju, he agreed to go to the Kumogakure front and pressure Kinkaku and Ginkaku.

  • Itō Yuying visited the training base and approved the instructors’ harsh treatment of their pupils, including Jiraiya’s beating of Uchiha Fugaku.

  • Tobirama Senju told Itō Yuying that the Cloud and Stone envoys had sought peace with the daimyo’s intervention, then ordered him to pressure Kinkaku and Ginkaku at the Kumogakure front.
  • Hatake Sakumo encouraged Tsunade to be harsher with her pupils, and Tsunade resolved to change her training plan.

Ch. 60Battlefield training 1

Itō Yuying brought Jiraiya, Uchiha Fugaku, and Sato Ken to the border for battlefield training, but his presence made the Cloud ninja avoid them. After several quiet days, Fugaku and Sato Ken finally fought a Cloud patrol and endured severe wounds before Jiraiya healed them with Senzu Beans.

  • Itō Yuying set up camp near the border command post and told Jiraiya to help Fugaku and Sato Ken only if they were about to die.
  • The Raikage and Second Tsuchikage Mu ordered their forces to avoid Itō Yuying, while Mu predicted that Kinkaku and Ginkaku might attack his group.
  • After days of uneventful patrols, Itō Yuying stayed at camp and sent Jiraiya, Fugaku, and Sato Ken out, instructing the two trainees to escape attacks on their own.
  • Jiraiya watched as Fugaku and Sato Ken fought ten Cloud ninja, suffered grave wounds, and kept fighting until only one opponent remained and fled.
  • Jiraiya gave Fugaku and Sato Ken Senzu Beans and removed the kunai from Fugaku, restoring both trainees to full strength.
