Ch. 101The excited big shots

Chiyo struggled against the Demon Beasts while Tobirama Senju broke through and demonstrated his overwhelming new strength. Chiyo eventually achieved a breakthrough of her own, gaining the ability to control living creatures with her chakra threads and turning a thousand Demon Beasts against each other.

  • The Kazekage sent Chiyo to fight, but her ten puppets were quickly destroyed, and the other Kage regretted having held back their fighters.
  • Tobirama Senju, Hiruzen Sarutobi, and Shimura Danzō continued battling Demon Beast Kings until Tobirama's aura surged and he broke through.
  • Tobirama demonstrated his strength with a Ki Blast that devastated the area, then quenched the lava with the Great Waterfall Technique before sending his students to fight.
  • Chiyo kept returning to battle despite being badly beaten, while the Kazekage tried to comfort her and repeatedly laughed at her swollen face.
  • Chiyo broke through, used her chakra threads to control more than a thousand Demon Beasts, and made them attack one another before exploding their heads.

Ch. 102Getting carried away: a first taste of the Endless Sea of Blood

Chiyo, Hiruzen Sarutobi, and Shimura Danzō awakened stronger abilities while training against Demon Beast Kings, and the group eventually reached the Endless Sea of Blood. Their first encounter with the blood sea’s enormous insect swarms left Tobirama Senju gravely injured.

  • Chiyo used her Chakra Thread to make the Kazekage slap himself for more than twenty minutes, then ignored his questions and consolidated her strength.
  • Hiruzen Sarutobi broke through, killed a Demon Beast King with a powerful beam, and Shimura Danzō soon broke through after charging into the Demon Beasts.
  • Tobirama Senju persuaded the Kage and their companions to train until they reached bottlenecks, after which the group traveled deeper into the Forest of Despair.
  • The group reached the Endless Sea of Blood, realized the ocean was made of blood, and faced a swarm of roughly a hundred million insects.
  • Tobirama Senju teleported outside to fight the insects, but they overwhelmed him, forcing him to teleport back with much of his flesh eaten away.

Ch. 103The big shots return

The village leaders returned from the Forest of Despair after Tobirama Senju recovered with a Senzu Bean, and they agreed to continue sending selected experts for training despite the risks. After learning that Hanzō had tried to intercept and kill him, the Tsuchikage and Ōnoki caught up with Hanzō and maimed him with a single attack.

  • Hiruzen Sarutobi and Shimura Danzō carried the dying Tobirama Senju out of the Forest of Despair, and Itō Yuying healed him with a Senzu Bean.
  • The village leaders discussed the dangers and benefits of the training grounds and agreed to return every three years with selected experts.
  • Tobirama Senju, Itō Yuying, Hiruzen Sarutobi, and Shimura Danzō discussed the stronger creatures and increased casualties, then discovered fifteen little cockroaches secretly listening.
  • The village leaders returned to the guest hotel and agreed that the benefits of training outweighed their concerns about Konoha's motives.
  • After a Rock Ninja reported Hanzō's attempt to intercept and kill him, the Tsuchikage and Ōnoki pursued Hanzō and destroyed his right arm and right leg with a gray ray of light.

Ch. 104The team leader

Ch. 107Preparations

Itō Yuying arranged to take Hana, Yumengliang, and Qingliu outside the village for training after Tobirama Senju approved a long-term mission. The students paid off the meal bill by working at Yakiniku Q, said farewell to their families, and prepared to leave with their teacher.

  • Itō Yuying left Hana, Yumengliang, and Qingliu at Yakiniku Q to work off the bill while he asked Tobirama Senju for permission to train them outside the village.
  • Tobirama Senju approved Itō Yuying’s request and assigned him a long-term mission, and Itō Yuying told his students their training trip would begin once they paid the bill.

  • Hana and Qingliu practiced late into the night, and Yumengliang helped Qingliu master tree climbing before teaching him Water Walking.
  • Yumengliang stayed up practicing Water Walking alone, while Itō Yuying noticed his effort from his tent.
  • The next morning, Itō Yuying praised the students and promised to teach them a powerful Ninjutsu he had created if they mastered Water Walking that day, prompting all three to train eagerly.

Ch. 109Training

Itō Yuying trained Qingliu, Yumengliang, and Hana in water walking, then taught them his evasive Konoha Shadow-Stepping Technique. As the students practiced, a Land of Rivers ninja squad continued secretly observing them, suspecting they had a hidden purpose.

  • Itō Yuying sent Qingliu, Yumengliang, and Hana to fight a bandit gang, then killed the rogue Sand shinobi who nearly struck Yumengliang and had his students chase down the fleeing bandits.
  • Itō Yuying continued water-walking training until all three students could move across the lake, though they had too little chakra to stay on the surface for long.
  • Hana, Qingliu, and Yumengliang secretly trained against one another during the night and repeatedly fell into the lake.
  • Itō Yuying demonstrated his Konoha Shadow-Stepping Technique, dodging the students' attacks, then taught them the technique and let them practice.
