As soon as Sheng Nian returned to Capital Star, Yan Feizhuo bundled him into a private hospital.
Chen Che was startled by all the fuss and thought his boss and old friend might have survived another assassination attempt and suffered some serious injury.
Only after learning what had happened did he relax. "Don't worry. It's just a flesh wound. It hurts, but there's no damage to the muscles or bones. He'll be fine after ten days or so of rest."
Yan Feizhuo stood at the door of the hospital room, watching Sheng Nian, who had finally fallen into a peaceful sleep after receiving painkillers. His voice was cold. "If he's hurting, someone should hurt a hundred, a thousand times worse."
Chen Che shrugged, then asked nosily, "I wanted to ask the last time you came over. Did you win him over?"
Yan Feizhuo glanced at him without speaking.
Unable to contain his curiosity, Chen Che pressed, "Come on, tell me!"
"Yes."
He gave that reply, then said, "There's nothing else for you to do here."
Chen Che distinctly felt that what he really wanted to say was "Get lost." He grumbled as he headed out. "Tch. I have no idea how Young Master Sheng puts up with that icy personality of yours..."
Once he had left, Yan Feizhuo returned to the room. Sheng Nian wasn't sleeping comfortably on his stomach. His brow was tightly furrowed, and he turned his head from time to time because he was having trouble breathing.
Yan Feizhuo lifted the covers and got into bed, picking him up and letting him lie against his chest as though he were cradling a doll.
Settling into the familiar embrace, Sheng Nian nuzzled him lightly. His brow relaxed, and he sank into a deep sleep.
