The Shao family residence.
The living room, once understated and luxurious, was now all glitter and gold, giving it the unmistakable air of nouveau riche excess.
The second Shao brother sat on the sofa, his face dark, saying nothing.
His wife, Lin Fen, cursed loudly, "They're all money-grubbing snobs! Now that that useless bastard has become useful, they've started sucking up to him. Have they forgotten they helped get rid of him back then too?"
Lin Fen kept calling him useless, as though she had to keep repeating it to prove her judgment was right.
"And that cripple actually went behind our backs, got his legs cured, and struck out on his own. Doesn't he realize he wouldn't have had the capital if we hadn't given him money?"
The more Lin Fen spoke, the more convinced she became, her eyes lighting up. "Exactly! We gave him so much money back then, and he collected dividends from Shao Corporation every year. Without that money, how could he have started a company?"
"Bairun Group should belong to us!"
The second Shao brother said nothing, but much of the gloom on his face faded.
Sitting on the other side, Shao Yang might have been wound too tight; the flesh on his face actually twitched uncontrollably, making him look utterly frightening.
Lin Fen sought agreement. "Son, what do you think?"
Shao Yang no longer had his usual air of serene detachment. His face was livid, and the hand resting on the table clenched tight. "Of course. Everything he has should belong to our Shao family!"
As winter approached, Bairun Group's Asia division was officially established. There was a ribbon-cutting ceremony during the day, followed by a grand banquet that evening at one of Lincheng's finest hotels.
Zheng Yan Che came with Gao Jingkai.
