Yan Zhipeng's face was livid, fury churning inside him. "Get over here and kneel! I'll teach you how to speak to your father today!"
As though certain Yan Ningke would not resist, he had already confidently unbuckled his belt.
A slightly plump woman stood beside the sofa, dressed in a qipao, her face full of worry. "Ningke, hurry and apologize to your father. Honestly, why are you becoming more and more unreasonable?"
The sight of Yan Ningke remaining unmoved sent Yan Zhipeng's anger shooting straight to his head. He pointed at him and launched into a tirade.
"You've only been away a few days, and you already think you're somebody! Selling your ass to men-have you no shame? You've all but disgraced the Yan family!"
"Your brother went to talk some sense into you, and you beat him like that! You're as heartless as an animal. If I'd known, I'd have been better off letting those traffickers beat you to death instead of having you come back and ruin our family!"
Overcome with anger, he snatched up a teacup beside him and hurled it hard!
Yan Ningke dodged again.
He walked over to the nearest display cabinet, a trace of mockery slipping through his indifference. "You like smashing things, do you?"
He picked up a porcelain plate and raised it.
"What are you doing!"
Yuan Qi clutched her chest. "Ningke, put that down. Just apologize to your father, and everything will be fine..."
Apologize, my fucking ass!
Crash! Crash! Crash!
"You like smashing things, right? Come on, let's smash them together!"
Yan Ningke's eyes were chilling, his expression icy, and his hands moved faster and faster.
He smashed everything he could!
Yuan Qi took two steps forward, then hurriedly stopped, afraid of being hit by flying shards. "Ah, what are you doing? Ningke, stop!"
Yan Zhipeng's hands shook. "You unfilial wretch! You animal!"
Yan Ningke simply held his gaze, calmly smashing one piece after another.
Yan Zhipeng's eyes gradually filled with horror!
Was this still his timid, cowering son?
The person who had once let him beat and berate him however he pleased was now actually making him feel afraid.
"Dad, Mom, what's going on?"
Hearing the noise, Yan Zhen came downstairs, his right hand still in a cast. The instant he saw Yan Ningke, hatred swept over him. "Yan Ningke, you slut!"
A glass vase came flying straight at him.
"Ah! Zhenzhen!"
Yuan Qi rushed over and threw herself in front of him. The vase slammed into her back before crashing to the floor.
Yan Zhen froze.
He stared at Yan Ningke in disbelief. "Are you insane?"
Yan Ningke hefted the ornament in his hand, his eyes pitch-black. "Who's the slut?"
Yan Zhen instinctively stepped back, staring at him in shock, terrified he would suddenly do it again.
He was certain he would never dodge it this time!
The crashing stopped. In less than five minutes, the Yan family's elegant living room had been reduced to a wreck, debris strewn across the floor.
Yan Zhipeng stood in front of his wife and son, his eyes wide with rage. "You're worse than an animal! You even hit your mother! Are you even human?"
Yan Ningke smiled. "That depends on you. If you were born to a human, I'm human. If you were born to an animal, I'm an animal."
"Ningke!"
Yuan Qi was furious. "What on earth is wrong with you? How did you become like this?"
Unable to hold back after all, Yan Ningke laughed aloud.
There were always executioners who drove others mad, then put on an innocent face, as though the other person had committed some unforgivable crime.
"What's wrong with me? Weren't you the ones who called me back? Oh, so I'm only doing the right thing if I stand still and let you humiliate me? Only then am I your good son?"
Yuan Qi faltered. "...That's not what I meant."
"Why bother explaining anything to him? If you weren't out there making a disgrace of yourself, I wouldn't spare you a second glance even if you died out there!"
Yan Zhipeng's face was full of disgust, as though he were something filthy.
There really was no point getting tangled up with these people. Yan Ningke's main purpose in coming today was to retrieve what belonged to the body's original owner.
He walked around them and entered the storage room in the corner of the first floor.
Yes, ever since returning, the body's original owner had been living in a storage room of less than ten square meters within this enormous villa.
The reason was that Yan Zhen thought he was dirty. When the body's original owner returned, he had been dressed in rags, his hair matted. Yuan Qi had ordered a servant to take him to a public bathhouse and wash him clean before letting him into the house.
The storage room door had long since broken. Yan Ningke pushed it open with some effort, and in an instant, his expression darkened sharply.
The floor was a jumble: a shattered crystal ball, filthy children's shoes, a blue schoolbag, a little tiger pillow, and a stuffed rabbit with its stuffing scattered all over the floor.
Yan Ningke slowly turned his head, anger deepening in his eyes. "Who did this?"
A nasty smile appeared on Yan Zhen's face.
He had known these worthless things were Yan Ningke's weak spot.
Yan Zhipeng said in disgust, "A pile of junk. Who knows when..."
"Who. Did. This!"
Yan Ningke did not understand. Why did they always have to push him?
He stood there, his expression ominous, as though a storm were brewing.
Perhaps because he felt he had backup today, coupled with the chance to make Yan Ningke suffer, Yan Zhen grew bold again.
"I did it! Yan Ningke, I know what you want, and I'm going to make sure you never get it! You jinx, you were born to bring disaster on us! Why didn't you die in those mountains? Why come back and be an eyesore!"
"You deserve it! Your whole life is a joke! You deserve to be beaten and cursed like a pig or a dog! To be humiliated! You don't deserve Mom and Dad's love, do you know that? Because you're too filthy! Seeing you reminds me of how you looked covered in shit. It's so disgusting it makes me want to puke!"
"Zhenzhen! What nonsense are you saying!"
Yan Zhen had been thoroughly enjoying himself when Yuan Qi's reprimand cut him off.
She gave him a mildly reproachful look. This child really had no filter.
Turning to look at her eldest son, whom she had never been able to feel close to, she wore a complicated look in her eyes. "Ningke, don't listen to your brother's nonsense. He's just upset because his hand is injured. He didn't mean it."
A smile spread across Yan Ningke's face, his unruffled air unsettling. "Really?"
Thinking he had listened, Yuan Qi hurried to agree. "You injured your brother. He was just a little angry, so he spoke without thinking. Why don't you two call it even? I'll have a whole table of dishes prepared in a bit, and our family can have a proper reunion dinner."
Yan Zhipeng gave a cold snort, as though bestowing a favor. "Enough. Go kneel in the punishment room for an hour, then come out to eat!"
Fuck you. I'm done putting up with this!
Without warning, Yan Ningke snatched the belt from his hand, shoved Yuan Qi aside, grabbed Yan Zhen by the hair, and strode toward the so-called punishment room, dragging him along.
The turn of events was so sudden that no one reacted.
Only when Yan Zhen's agonized screams rang out did the other two snap out of it.
"What are you doing!"
"Ah, my Zhenzhen!"
Yan Zhipeng and Yuan Qi scrambled after him.
Yan Ningke viciously shoved him onto the mat in the room, then planted a foot on his back to keep him from getting up.
The other two tried to come over and push him away, and he gave each of them a lash with the belt.
"A punishment room? How thoughtful of you to build me a room yourself just to give yourself an outlet for your emotions!"
