It wasn't as though he had completely failed to teach Harry. It was just that something seemed to have gone wrong with Dumbledore, and his teaching had turned out a little... unconventional.
Sometimes it worked, and sometimes it didn't. The result was the sort of half-baked proficiency that left much to be desired...
By rights, Dumbledore had been an exceptionally capable teacher when he was young...
More than fifty years ago, Dumbledore had been beloved by quite a few young witches and wizards at Hogwarts.
So why, when it came to teaching Harry, had he first handed him over to Snape, wasting more than half a year of Harry's time?
Then, when he taught Harry himself, he still hadn't managed to teach him much.
He had, however, done a very thorough job of teaching Harry everything about Voldemort and Horcruxes...
Even with Occlumency, the least taboo of the lot, Dumbledore hadn't taught him much.
That went double for Legilimency and other powerful dark magic.
Dumbledore was particularly tight-lipped about dark magic.
Perhaps it was because of his lover, Grindelwald, and his prize student, Tom Riddle.
In any case, Dumbledore had put away virtually every book at Hogwarts that had anything to do with dark magic.
How the hell was Harry supposed to learn anything now...?
What about his [Eternal Agony]?
What about his [Killing Tornado]?
Harry wasn't short of [Energy Bars] for synthesis now. What he lacked was those spells...
James Potter and Lily had good genes, giving Harry an exceptionally strong aptitude for learning magic.
But even the best cook couldn't make a meal without ingredients.
No matter how talented Harry was, could he conjure something out of nothing?
That wasn't realistic.
When it came to learning things like this, he would be better off counting on the evil old bat Snape than on the greatest wizard, Dumbledore.
After all, if Snape truly saw him as Lily's child and completely shed those prejudices he had held in the original story...
Whatever he wanted to learn, as long as he sincerely sought instruction, Snape would definitely teach him!
The only question would be whether he could learn it, not whether the other man would teach him!
Even if Snape hesitated, all he needed to do was bat his eyes, and Snape would definitely soften.
With Snape teaching him, he should be able to unlock synthesis in the [Spellbook] before long, right?
He had saved up more than three hundred [Energy Bars], and he was already getting a little impatient...
Day after day, he had more than enough energy for synthesis, but because he couldn't cast the spells, he hadn't been able to carry out any synthesis at all. It was agonizing...
Right, he also needed to ask Professor Snape exactly how he should go about performing wandless magic.
There was never any harm in learning a little more. With many things, the earlier he started learning, the easier the road ahead would be.
Even if Professor Snape was unwilling to teach him the Three Unforgivable Curses...
Surely there wouldn't be any problem with teaching him some other dark magic?
And things like the Patronus Charm-Snape would surely be generous with his instruction, right?
Meanwhile, that adorable redheaded little girl, Ron, hovered around Harry like a red fox that never tired, chattering away without stopping.
First it was how Hermione had kept muttering over her books in the dormitory last night, annoying her half to death.
Then it was how she had nearly overslept that morning, but fortunately Professor Flitwick, who taught the first lesson, was fairly lenient...
In short, for some reason...
All those little everyday trifles seemed to become rather interesting when this cheerful Little Ronnie talked about them...
And Ron really didn't seem to care very much about Harry's current relationship with Malfoy...
Perhaps, just as Harry had said, Ron...
Hadn't yet reached the age where she understood these relationships?
Surely Ron couldn't be the one who hid things best?
As he walked along with Ron, their arms around each other, a trace of something odd flickered in Harry's eyes, and his steps grew slightly awkward.
My relationship with Ron really doesn't seem much like being good friends...
What sort of good friends hold each other like this...?
If we were both boys, it would be fine...
Fine, my ass! This is Britain. Even boys wouldn't be okay!
In any case, it was a little too intimate.
Of course, since Ron didn't mind, Harry couldn't really say anything himself.
He really didn't quite know how to turn down other people's kindness...
In the end, Harry still brought Ron into Professor McGonagall's Transfiguration classroom and found seats for them...
Considering how strongly Ron resisted sitting in the front row, Harry took her to the fourth row instead.
That was the farthest back Harry could accept.
Any farther back, and Harry feared taking notes would be inconvenient, so he firmly refused to move back another row.
This left Ron rather disappointed. After all, in her mind, the best seat had always been the one by the window in the back row...
Still, if Harry wanted to sit a little closer to the front, Ron could accommodate him~
After all, Ron was rather fond of the handsome Chosen One with his rosy lips and pearly teeth.
It was only fondness, though. She didn't have nearly as much going on in her head as Malfoy.
Well, with Ron's brain capacity, sometimes she couldn't have that much going on in her head even if she wanted to...
Oh well, Ron is pretty interesting too.
He glanced with a smile at Ron, who was already starting to look drowsy even though class had only just begun.
Harry chuckled softly, opened his Transfiguration textbook, and began listening attentively to Professor McGonagall's lesson.
As Transfiguration was a measure of a wizard's magical ability, Harry considered its importance self-evident.
Professor McGonagall was a master of Transfiguration second only to Dumbledore in all of Hogwarts, as well as the strictest teacher at the school.
The quality of her teaching was beyond question.
No matter how abstract a concept was, Professor McGonagall always seemed able to explain it simply and turn it into something the young witches and wizards could easily understand.
To the young Ravenclaws who had just endured a hellish Potions Class, Professor McGonagall was practically an angel...
Although, for Harry, Professor McGonagall's pace was so slow that listening was a little boring.
Still, Professor McGonagall explained everything in great detail. Listening a little more certainly wouldn't do him any harm.
It looks like the only one who'll really look after me that much is Professor Snape, who sees me as Lily...
As for Ron...
Harry really was a little puzzled as to why Ron kept murmuring his name even after falling asleep...
How strange. Not only does she sleep in class, she talks in her sleep too?!
Could it be just because I'm the Chosen One?
Surely the bond from the original story hasn't given Ron and me a naturally high level of fondness for each other?
Harry wasn't quite sure now, either. But he had indeed changed his mind from when he had first arrived.
He still remembered being a little disdainful of Ron when he had first transmigrated...
