Harry returned to his first-year life with a spell-synthesizing book and began Hogwarts after being sorted into Ravenclaw. As Snape grew suspicious of Quirrell, Draco Malfoy became increasingly determined to get close to Harry.

• Harry found the [Spellbook], discovered it could synthesize new spells using [Energy Bars], and learned to replenish its energy with his magic.
• Harry met Ron on the Hogwarts Express, where Draco Malfoy tried to recruit him to her view of wizarding society before leaving after he defended wizards from all backgrounds.
• During the stormy boat ride to Hogwarts, Harry shielded Ron and Malfoy from the rain, and Malfoy saved his glasses and returned them when they reached shore.
• The Sorting Hat placed Ron in Gryffindor and Harry in Ravenclaw after a lengthy deliberation, surprising the students and staff.
• Snape noticed Harry’s scar hurting and suspected Quirrell, then followed him to the Third Floor Corridor after he left the feast.
• Harry met his Ravenclaw roommates and declined their Christmas invitations, while Malfoy watched him from the Slytherin table and grew jealous of his companions.
• The next morning, Malfoy stopped Harry on his way to breakfast, blushed at his greeting, and offered to eat with him before Potions class.

Harry grew closer to Draco while impressing Snape in Potions and arranging private lessons with both of them. Snape discovered that Quirrell intended to kill Harry, forced him out of Ravenclaw Tower, and prepared to meet Harry in her office.

• Harry chose to sit with Draco at breakfast, and she invited him to Malfoy Manor for Christmas before they headed to Potions together.
• Snape tested Harry and Draco in class, but Harry answered her questions about aconite and the Draught of Living Death and spoke about love easing grief, prompting Snape to award Ravenclaw points and invite him to her office.
• Snape tailored her lesson to Harry and later remembered Lily, while Draco grew jealous of Ron and arranged to tutor with Harry after class.
• Harry studied Charms theory and planned to test his magical control on the Halloween Troll, then Draco took his glasses and began tutoring with him in the library.
• Draco gave Harry platinum-framed glasses, and after Hermione interrupted them, Draco argued with her before following Harry to the Ravenclaw table for dinner.
• Harry and Draco left the Great Hall together as Quirrell hurried toward Ravenclaw Tower, and Snape followed him under a Disillusionment Charm.
• Snape confronted Quirrell in the Ravenclaw Common Room, read his thoughts, and learned he intended to kill Harry before ordering him to leave.
• Snape returned to her office, resolved to call Harry by his first name, and tried unsuccessfully to tidy the room before his visit.
