Ch. 1Setting sail

Lofan set sail for Dressrosa to enlist Doflamingo as a partner and build the resources and forces he needed for his ambitions. After revealing how much he knew about Doflamingo’s plans and secrets, Lofan overwhelmed him with a terrifying surge of Reiatsu.

  • Lofan refused a Marine warship and sailed alone toward Dressrosa to meet Doflamingo.
  • Lofan slipped into the palace using Observation Haki and his Zanpakuto, Illusion, to evade detection.
  • Doflamingo confronted Lofan in a lounge and asked how he had deceived the guards.
  • Lofan proposed that he and Doflamingo work together to turn the world upside down, naming the Celestial Dragons and Four Emperors as shared targets.
  • Lofan revealed his knowledge of Sugar, Caesar, Kaido, and Mary Geoise’s secret, provoking Doflamingo to unleash Conqueror’s Haki.
  • Lofan answered with overwhelming Reiatsu that forced Doflamingo to his knees, leaving him unable to identify the power.

Ch. 2A gift

Lofan struck a deal with Doflamingo to find and develop soul-related Devil Fruits, then attacked Jack the Drought as he sailed toward Dressrosa. After testing his strength against Jack, Lofan trapped him in Black Coffin, but the battle destroyed Jack’s ship and pulled them both underwater.

  • Lofan used Illusion to deceive Doflamingo, then arranged for Doflamingo to search for soul-related Devil Fruits and have Caesar investigate making them artificially.
  • Lofan spotted Jack the Drought’s ship near Dressrosa and decided to capture Jack as a gift for Sengoku and the Marines.
  • Jack attacked Lofan, who stopped his punch with one hand and used Conqueror’s Haki to knock out the other pirates aboard.
  • Lofan and Jack fought across the deck, damaging the ship as Lofan gauged Jack’s strength.
  • Lofan escaped Jack’s mammoth form by stepping through the air and cast Hadō #90: Black Coffin around him.
  • The damaged ship collapsed, and the resulting whirlpool dragged Jack and the Black Coffin underwater.

Ch. 3Surging undercurrents

Lofan returned to Marineford with Jack the Drought captured and learned that Zephyr had lost his arm in an attack by Edward Weevil. After Sengoku appointed him an Admiral candidate, Lofan’s rise became public, setting him on a course toward a confrontation with Kaido.

  • Lofan arrived at Marineford with Jack chained behind his ship and reunited with Zephyr, Ain, and Binz.
  • Lofan learned that Edward Weevil had attacked Zephyr and vowed to make the culprit pay.
  • Lofan presented the captured Jack to Zephyr, Ain, and Binz, shocking them with his achievement.
  • Zephyr asked Ain and Binz to serve aboard Lofan’s warship and began preparing them to meet his standards.
  • Sengoku weighed Lofan’s age and achievement, then approved his appointment as an Admiral candidate.
  • The Seagull Newspaper announced Lofan as the youngest Admiral candidate in history after he captured Jack alive.

Ch. 4Illusion

After Lofan captured Jack, Kaido set out for Marineford, while Lofan proposed using the confrontation to strengthen the Navy’s reputation. He demonstrated Illusion at a high-level meeting, then Kaido suddenly burst into the room as Lofan’s voice sounded again.

  • Kaido vowed to rescue Jack and kill Lofan, then sailed alone toward Marineford.
  • Doflamingo ordered Vergo to investigate Lofan without confronting him.
  • Lofan asked Hancock to contact Big Mom and arrange a meeting on an island.
  • At Marineford, Lofan proposed drawing Kaido away while the Navy escorted Jack to Impel Down.
  • Lofan vanished after invoking Illusion, and Kaido smashed into the meeting room; Lofan’s voice then said, “Shatter, Illusion.”

Ch. 5The powers at play

Lofan demonstrated his undetectable illusion ability to the Navy’s leaders, then set sail for the New World to lure Kaido while arranging a deal with Big Mom through Hancock. As the Navy and the Four Emperors mobilized, Lofan left his warship and headed alone to meet Hancock near G-11.

  • Lofan used Illusion to make the gathered officers mistake one another for him, convincing them to take his power and proposed operation seriously.
  • Sengoku approved Lofan’s plan, and Lofan departed Marineford aboard his own Seastone warship with Ain and her companion.
  • The Navy publicized Lofan’s route to bait Kaido, while Lofan planned to meet Big Mom through Hancock before Kaido reached G-11.
  • King and Queen led the Beasts Pirates toward Impel Down to retrieve Jack, while Whitebeard, Shanks, Big Mom, and Doflamingo reacted to the changing events.
  • Akainu and Kizaru secretly escorted Jack’s prison transport as Aokiji stayed at headquarters, and Akainu accepted that Lofan might have to be sacrificed.
  • Lofan left his warship and flew toward the island where he had arranged to meet Hancock.

Ch. 6A partner for cooperation

Lofan forced Perospero to hear his proposal to cooperate with Big Mom and use the chaos in Wano to obtain a Road Poneglyph. Meanwhile, Kaido prepared to target Lofan, and Doflamingo pushed Caesar to research artificial Soul-Type Devil Fruits.

  • Hancock dismissed Perospero and waited for Lofan, imagining that he would marry her.
  • Lofan appeared before Perospero, subdued him with Reiatsu, and said he wanted to work with Big Mom to obtain a Road Poneglyph.
  • Lofan told Hancock to stay out of the plan and remain with her people, while she interpreted his words as proof of his love.
  • Kaido read the news, suspected the Navy was baiting him, and vowed to kill Lofan before confronting Sengoku.
  • Doflamingo urged Caesar to develop an artificial Soul-Type Devil Fruit after learning about Lofan's Hollowfication power.

Ch. 7Big Mom

Lofan persuaded Big Mom to cooperate with him over the Road Poneglyph in Wano, offering Zou’s Poneglyph in return for her Soul-Soul Fruit insight and a Homie. As the Marines neared the Calm Belt with Jack captive, Queen, King, and a pirate force attacked their warships, beginning a battle led by Kizaru and Akainu.

  • Lofan contacted Big Mom and urged her to seize the Road Poneglyph in Wano while Kaido and his All-Stars were occupied.
  • Big Mom agreed to share her Soul-Soul Fruit insight and provide a Homie, but demanded that Lofan marry one of her daughters and survive the battle.
  • Lofan left Perospero and flew toward his base, planning to keep Kaido’s coming fight away from the Marine branch.
  • Kizaru sensed the arriving Beasts Pirates as Queen transformed and attacked the warships while King confronted Kizaru in the air.
  • Pirates boarded the Marines’ ships to rescue Jack, but Akainu sank a pirate ship with a magma fist and rallied the Marines to fight.
  • Jack struggled to escape his confinement, believing he should be fighting a Marine Admiral rather than waiting to be rescued.

Ch. 8War

The Marines and Beasts Pirates fought a massive battle over Jack’s rescue while Lofan stayed away from the battlefield with Ain. Lofan urged Ain to pursue her own path and take revenge on Edward, while King waited for Kaido to arrive and kill Lofan.

  • The Marines deployed two Admirals, five Vice Admirals, and more than eight hundred Marines against the Beasts Pirates, whose forces included King, Queen, the Flying Six, and over fifteen hundred fighters.
  • Lofan learned Kaido was expected to arrive that afternoon and chose a secluded island as the place to meet him.
  • Lofan told Ain she did not have to imitate Zephyr and encouraged her to take revenge on Edward; Ain broke down crying as Lofan comforted her.
  • King fought Kizaru in his pteranodon form while Queen was suppressed by Akainu and the Marines pushed back the Beasts Pirates.
  • King expected Kaido to defeat Lofan and planned to join his captain in confronting the Marines afterward.

Ch. 9Kaido of the Beasts

Lofan confronted Kaido, drew him away from the Marine branch, and fought him on an isolated island. Kaido’s greater strength and battle experience sent Lofan crashing into the rainforest, while Kaido held back to see what else he could do.

  • Kaido attacked Lofan at the Marine branch, and Lofan blocked his Kanabo strike before provoking him and fleeing toward an isolated island.
  • Kaido transformed into a blue dragon and pursued Lofan as Ain and Binz watched anxiously; at Marineford, Sengoku and Kong discussed Lofan’s mysterious hypnotic ability and the operation’s chances.
  • Kaido blasted a mountaintop with his breath, and Lofan slashed his nose before Kaido reverted to human form and launched a Thunder Bagua.
  • Lofan used reiatsu to restrict Kaido and struck at his neck, but Kaido resisted the effect and caught the blow with his horns.
  • Kaido anticipated Lofan’s Flash Step and struck him with Hassaikai, sending him through the rainforest; he then waited, intending to observe Lofan’s remaining abilities.

Ch. 10Cut in Two

Lofan tested the full force of his Soul Reaper powers against Kaido, nearly landing a lethal slash he named Cut in Two. The two began a fierce battle, with Lofan using Hadō to disrupt Kaido while struggling to evade his overwhelming attacks.

  • Lofan released Hadō #99: Five Dragon Destruction and used the opening to gather all his Reiatsu into a sword slash.
  • Kaido sensed the slash's lethal threat and let the dragon-shaped attack hurl him away, causing Lofan's Cut in Two to miss.
  • Lofan asked Kaido whether he dreamed of finding an opponent who could kill him, and Kaido said he had abandoned his dreams as a teenager.
  • Lofan and Kaido charged and exchanged powerful attacks, each trying to understand and defeat the other.
  • Lofan dodged Kaido's heavy club strikes and repeatedly fired Hadō #63: Thunder Roar Cannon to disrupt him and wear down his stamina.

Ch. 11A life-and-death gambit

Lofan and Kaido fought a brutal battle, with Lofan landing a powerful slash before Kaido recovered and unleashed his full strength. As Kaido charged with Roaring Thunder Bagua, Lofan activated Illusion, whose complete hypnosis he believed had no counter.

  • Lofan trapped Kaido in Black Coffin, then concealed himself with Kyokkō while preparing to strike.
  • Kaido transformed into his Azure Dragon Form to warp and break the Black Coffin, scattering Wind Blades as it shattered.
  • Lofan attacked as Kaido’s senses returned, cutting into his chest, but Kaido deflected the slash and survived with injuries that began to heal.
  • Kaido praised Lofan and shifted into his Human-Beast Form before launching Roaring Thunder Bagua.
  • Lofan reflected on the danger of the fight and revealed that Illusion controlled all five senses and had no known counter.

Ch. 12Peerless

Lofan and Kaido fought a devastating duel that ended with both men gravely wounded after Lofan unleashed his ultimate attack, Peerless. Lofan used Illusion on the fallen Kaido, while Perospero escaped and called Mama to report the battle.

  • Lofan met Kaido's attacks with Haki and Reiatsu, and the two fought across an island that shook and tilted under their blows.
  • Lofan realized he could not outlast Kaido and prepared his ultimate attack, while Kaido gathered his strength and urged him to strike.
  • Lofan used Peerless against Kaido's Torch: Flaming Bagua, overturning the island and sending huge waves across the surrounding sea.
  • Both fighters collapsed with catastrophic injuries, and Lofan used Bakudō #83: Reverse to heal enough to stand.
  • Kaido asked Lofan to kill him, but Lofan said Illusion and Perospero fled to call Mama about the battle.

Ch. 13Making a Move

After defeating Kaido, Lofan recovered with Ain’s help while the Marines prepared to exploit the Beasts Pirates’ weakened position. He chose to leave Kaido alive, setting his sights on a larger contest among the world’s leading figures.

  • Perospero reported Kaido’s defeat to Big Mom, who sent Katakuri to claim Onigashima and its Road Poneglyph.
  • Lofan told Ain to inform Sengoku of his victory and come to him alone, while Kaido remained alive and unconscious.
  • Sengoku celebrated Lofan’s victory, ordered an all-out Marine attack on the Beasts Pirates, and planned to seek the Five Elders’ support for Lofan.
  • Ain used the Return-Return Fruit to restore Lofan’s injuries and stamina, then hugged him as she wept.
  • Lofan told Kaido that Jack and the other All-Stars were in danger, but left Kaido alive and walked away with Ain.

Ch. 14A great victory

Lofan returned to the Marines’ celebration after defeating Kaido, while the Beasts Pirates suffered heavy losses and Doflamingo reacted with fear and urgent orders. As Lofan recovered and secretly asked Ain to help find a girl, Kong met with the Five Elders to discuss a matter that could affect the Marines for centuries.

  • Lofan returned to the harbor, where the Marines hailed his victory, and he reported that Kaido had escaped despite serious injuries.
  • Akainu and Kizaru attacked the Beasts Pirates without restraint, capturing Queen, driving King away wounded, and inflicting heavy losses on the crew.
  • Doflamingo learned of Kaido’s defeat, ordered his family to cut ties with Kaido and search for soul-type Devil Fruits, and resolved to commit himself to his deal with Lofan.
  • Lofan asked Ain and Binz to treat his injuries, then secretly asked Ain to help find a girl; after Ain reversed her ability, Lofan endured the pain and lost consciousness.
  • Kong met with the Five Elders and said the matter he had brought could affect the Marines for centuries.

Ch. 15The fourth

Katakuri arrived at Onigashima to claim Wano Country and the Road Poneglyph for Big Mom while Luo Fan traveled to Marineford and was appointed the Marines’ fourth Admiral. After securing a month of paid leave, Luo Fan assessed his lack of authority and planned to build influence through future achievements.

  • Katakuri arrived at Onigashima and ordered his subordinates to take the Road Poneglyph and Wano Country to Big Mom.
  • Luo Fan recovered from his injuries, sailed for Marineford with Ain, and considered plans involving Big Mom, Dressrosa, the Hobby-Hobby Fruit, and an intelligence organization.
  • Sengoku announced Luo Fan’s appointment as the fourth Marine Admiral, code-named Cloud Gull Admiral, and the Marines celebrated.
  • Luo Fan persuaded Sengoku to grant him one month of paid leave.
  • Luo Fan recognized that Akainu, Kizaru, and Aokiji would not readily share authority, and decided to build influence through his accomplishments.

Ch. 16Setting out

Lofan left Ain in Zephyr’s care for a month of training, then set out for Totto Land to negotiate with Big Mom. He met Perospero on Whole Cake Island and deflected questions about Kaido’s fate, leaving the details of the talks unresolved.

  • Lofan visited Zephyr and Garp, left them wine, and asked Zephyr to help train Ain while he was away.
  • Zephyr agreed to train Ain, and Lofan prepared to travel to Totto Land to pursue his deal with Big Mom.
  • Lofan contacted Perospero to announce his visit, and Perospero discussed the coming negotiations with Katakuri.
  • Katakuri told Perospero to keep the meeting secret and make arrangements to welcome Lofan, while he prepared to speak with Big Mom.
  • Perospero escorted Lofan to the Charlotte Family sitting room and asked what had happened to Kaido.
  • Lofan said he had not learned the details and suggested Perospero ask Sengoku directly.

Ch. 17Yamato

Lofan met Big Mom in Totto Land to discuss their agreement while Yamato, imprisoned there, tried to escape and argued over Kozuki Oden. Katakuri stopped Yamato's attack, leaving her bloodied as Lofan watched and remained eager to finish the deal and head to Dressrosa.

  • Perospero escorted Lofan to Big Mom, where Yamato launched a surprise attack but Zeus struck her down.
  • Yamato recognized Lofan as the man who defeated Kaido and praised Kozuki Oden, but Lofan criticized Oden's leadership and went to discuss their promises with Big Mom.
  • Yamato, frustrated by her confinement, attacked Big Mom again with Thunder Bagua, and Katakuri intercepted her blow.
  • Yamato and Katakuri clashed with Conqueror's Haki before Katakuri struck her in the stomach, leaving her conscious and bleeding.
  • Lofan and Big Mom watched Yamato struggle as Lofan focused on completing their conversation and traveling to Dressrosa.

Ch. 18Playing House

Lofan intimidated Yamato during his meeting with Big Mom, discussed the Soul-Soul Fruit with her, and left without taking any Homies. After misleading the Five Elders about his background, he returned to Dressrosa to meet Doflamingo and continue their joint venture.

  • Yamato attacked Lofan with Narikabura, but his reiatsu destroyed her sword energy, and his killing intent left her convinced she had died once.
  • Lofan criticized Yamato's arrogance and told Big Mom he wanted insights into the Soul-Soul Fruit; Big Mom shared her knowledge and agreed to settle their exchange after obtaining Zou's Road Poneglyph.
  • Lofan departed Totto Land for Dressrosa, while the Five Elders accepted CP0's report that his background was clean and discussed whether he had enough ambition to serve the World Government.
  • Lofan spent a week leaving traces of himself on several islands before returning to Dressrosa for his planned meeting with Doflamingo.
  • Doflamingo had postponed his business to wait for Lofan, and Lofan took his prompt agreement to meet as a sign of commitment to their joint venture.

Ch. 19Hollowfication

Lofan brought Doflamingo to Punk Hazard and explained his Hollowfication research to Caesar Clown. He concluded that souls in this world could support the process, but he still needed a way to artificially increase spiritual power before the Hōgyoku could be used.

  • Doflamingo brought Lofan to Punk Hazard, where Monet summoned Caesar Clown from the laboratory.
  • Caesar initially failed to recognize Lofan, then panicked when Doflamingo identified him as the Admiral who defeated Kaido and asked Lofan for guidance.
  • Lofan explained that souls could affect the living world and that Hollowfication required immense Reiatsu and a Hollow within the body.
  • Lofan described how he might use Soul-Type Devil Fruits to create Hollows or stimulate souls, depending on what his research required.
  • Lofan realized that artificially increasing Reiatsu remained the main obstacle, while his Aizen Template had reached 51% and the Hōgyoku remained locked.

Ch. 20I long to ride the wind

Luo Fan secured Caesar’s commitment to developing artificial Soul-Type Devil Fruits by promising him his Lineage Factor as research material. He then arranged to meet Morgans and asked Doflamingo to set up a conversation with Sugar, leaving with the basic framework for his plans in place.

  • Luo Fan explained that cultivating soul energy could strengthen Conqueror’s Haki, winning Caesar’s respect and exciting Doflamingo.
  • Luo Fan urged Caesar to pursue artificial Soul-Type Devil Fruits and offered his Lineage Factor for research.
  • Doflamingo agreed to cover the costs of the Soul-Type Devil Fruit project and arrange a meeting with Morgans.
  • Luo Fan asked to speak with Sugar about an idea involving her Hobby-Hobby Fruit, and Doflamingo agreed to arrange it.
  • Luo Fan left Punk Hazard with Doflamingo, having laid the basic framework for his development after more than two months at sea.
