While Mihawk and Zoro were rowing for dear life, Usopp was on the island, learning about its peculiar seeds from a man who looked like a humanoid rhinoceros beetle.
Because of what Kuma had said when sending him flying, Usopp had not given up on himself after arriving here as he had in the original story. Instead, he was studying seriously.
Just then, a giant seven-spotted ladybug flew over to them, making strange sounds.
"Coo~ coo~"
The humanoid rhinoceros beetle, Usopp's teacher, Heracles, nodded when he heard it.
"Mm-hmm~~ I understand~ thank you, Little Seven~" Heracles thanked the giant insect, then looked at Usopp. "Usopp, some people are approaching the island from outside. We need to go take a look and try to get them to leave. This is no good place to be. Mm~~"
Brimming with confidence, Usopp rubbed his nose. "All right~ Teacher Heracles, if they're bad guys, leave them to the brave Usopp."
The two raced in the direction the seven-spotted ladybug had indicated. They soon reached the shore and spotted two figures rowing desperately.
Looking utterly incredulous, Usopp rubbed his eyes, waved, and shouted, "Zoro~~ hey~ Zoro~~"
Zoro shuddered at the voice as he rowed. He looked up ahead, and upon seeing Usopp, rowed even faster.
A little later, the coffin boat pulled up to shore, and the two staggered onto the island like old men on their last legs.
"Food~ water~" they said in unison.
Seeing their condition, Usopp hurried into the forest to get whatever food he could. If there was one thing this island had in abundance, it was food. Apart from dirt and poop, everything was edible.
After eating and drinking their fill, Zoro patted his stomach. "Ah~~ finally, I'm alive again~"
Then he looked at Usopp. "Why are you here?"
