Ch. 21A's ambition

After Akatsuki attacked Yugito Nii in Kumogakure, A ordered the village onto high alert and began preparing to hunt Akatsuki. News that Pero had taken Konoha’s Nine-Tails excited A’s ambition to claim all the tailed beasts, while Pero listened from Amegakure.

  • A returned to Kumogakure and found Yugito Nii shaken after Black Zetsu attacked her; Killer B explained that he had driven the attacker off with a Tailed Beast Bomb.
  • A blamed Akatsuki, ordered Kumogakure sealed and its jinchūriki protected, and dismissed the other villages’ ability to help.
  • A learned that Pero had knocked out Konoha’s Nine-Tails and taken it, then celebrated Konoha’s loss and resolved to seize Akatsuki’s tailed beasts.
  • A ordered hunting squads to investigate Akatsuki and told Killer B to train harder with Gyuki.
  • In Amegakure, Pero listened and smiled mockingly.

Ch. 22Yahiko's longing

At the Akatsuki base, Yahiko asked Pero to let him go on missions so he could fight for their ideals instead of remaining behind to care for others. Pero gave Yahiko a powerful golden chakra seal and sent him to report to Kakuzu alongside Rin.

  • Pero played with the drained Nine-Tails while Konan angrily confronted him for leaving her behind in the Land of Whirlpools.
  • Nagato studied Uzumaki sealing techniques, while Yahiko cared for Gaara and Isobu at the base.
  • Yahiko told Pero he wanted to become stronger and take part in missions rather than stay in the background.
  • Pero gave Yahiko a golden chakra seal that transformed his power and caused a brilliant aura to rise from him.
  • Pero told Yahiko to report to Kakuzu, saying he now belonged at the same table as Rin.

Ch. 23The Jinchūriki plan

Pero devised a plan to strengthen Akatsuki by sealing energy clones made from his chakra inside selected members, giving them Kryptonian-like powers. After granting the power to Yahiko and Rin, he planned to empower Akatsuki’s core members and use a clone to direct a war across the Shinobi World.

  • Pero judged Akatsuki too fragile to endure without his protection and decided its members needed a lasting source of power.
  • Pero devised a plan to seal golden clones made from his chakra inside selected people, creating a group he called the Superman Squad.
  • Pero summoned Yahiko and Rin, sealed a clone inside each of them, and helped them adjust to their heightened senses.
  • Yahiko and Rin recovered and felt the clones’ powerful, continually renewing energy.
  • Pero planned to empower Nagato and Konan, considered making Nagato’s Six Paths of Pain into obedient jinchūriki, and prepared to direct a war while leaving a clone in the Shinobi World.

Ch. 24The power of the new generation

Yahiko and Rin joined Nagato on a mission to capture Utakata, the Six-Tails Jinchuriki, and overwhelmed the Kirigakure forces sent to protect him. After Nagato repelled the Fourth Mizukage, the Akatsuki members escaped with Utakata, and Yagura resolved to unite the Five Great Shinobi Villages against Akatsuki.

  • Yahiko asked Nagato to let him join a tailed-beast capture mission, and Konan reported that Utakata had appeared near the Land of Water border.
  • Nagato agreed to take Yahiko and Rin, who insisted she needed real combat to master her new power.
  • Nagato, Yahiko, and Rin confronted Utakata, but hundreds of Mist Ninja emerged from the woods and attacked them.
  • Yahiko shattered the Mist Ninja's ninjutsu with a punch, while Rin and Yahiko swiftly defeated the forces on the beach.
  • Yahiko clashed with the Fourth Mizukage, Karatachi Yagura, and Nagato used Shinra Tensei to hurl him into a cliff.
  • Nagato took Utakata as the trio departed, and Yagura decided to contact the other four Kage and form an alliance against Akatsuki.

Ch. 25The price of getting cocky was a brutal reality check (part one)

After gaining new power from Pero, Yahiko challenged members of the Akatsuki to test his strength. Nagato defeated him easily, leaving Yahiko battered and Pero considering a weakness in the new power.

  • Yahiko encountered a dejected Obito, who complained that Rin had grown stronger and urged Yahiko to challenge the Akatsuki’s fighters.
  • Yahiko challenged Konan, but she declined because she was busy and out of practice.
  • Yahiko challenged Nagato, who used Banshō Ten'in and Shinra Tensei to hurl him through a wall.
  • Nagato told the injured Yahiko that he had power but lacked skill and was too arrogant to recognize the gap between himself and his enemies.
  • Pero observed the fight and realized that the Jinchūriki-created “Kryptonians” could not use a bio-electric field or resist purely physical attacks like him.

Ch. 26At the End of an Inflated Ego Came a Beating from Reality (Part Two)

After losing to Nagato and Rin, Yahiko challenged Obito and managed to knock him out by anticipating when Obito would become tangible. Kakuzu’s criticism helped Yahiko recognize that he had gained power without learning how to use it, so he asked Kakuzu and Rin to train him and resolved to build his skills from the beginning.

  • Yahiko challenged Rin, who defeated him with basic taijutsu and told him that his strength was wasted on an unsettled mind.
  • Yahiko blamed Obito for encouraging his challenge to Nagato and attacked him, but Obito used his Mangekyō Sharingan to evade his punches.
  • Yahiko sensed the spatial fluctuations around Obito and struck him as he became tangible, knocking him out.
  • Kakuzu mocked Yahiko for relying on Pero’s power without learning how to use it, prompting Yahiko to realize that his skills and mindset had not improved.
  • Yahiko asked Kakuzu to teach him combat and ninjutsu and asked Rin to help him train his taijutsu and combat awareness.
  • Yahiko resolved to set aside his gift as a trump card and master his power through his own training.

Ch. 27Pero's self-cultivation as a director

Pero trained Nagato and Konan after turning them into Pero Jinchūriki, then explained their limits and his plans to leave his main body inside the sun. He outlined how the Akatsuki should provoke Kumogakure and set up Kaguya Ōtsutsuki’s resurrection so he could return as the final opponent.

  • Pero’s clones finished modifying Nagato and Konan, and they discovered golden energy and new power within themselves.
  • Pero told the group they were beta Pero Jinchūriki who could grow stronger by absorbing sunlight, but would need to test their limits and record their results.
  • Pero said he would leave a weakened clone with the Akatsuki while his main body went to sleep inside the sun.
  • Pero instructed the Akatsuki to stir up trouble in Kumogakure and encourage the major shinobi villages to form an alliance.
  • Pero revealed that Kaguya Ōtsutsuki was sealed inside the moon and explained Black Zetsu’s plan to resurrect her through Madara Uchiha and Infinite Tsukuyomi.
  • Pero told the Akatsuki to let the resurrection plan unfold, then call for him so he could return from the sun and face Kaguya.

Ch. 28The show begins

After the Akatsuki captured Kirigakure’s Six-Tails Jinchuriki, Mizukage Yagura called on the Five Great Shinobi Villages to unite against them, and Konoha prepared to host another Five Kage Summit. Minato committed to confronting the Akatsuki, while privately reflecting that the gathering was part of Pero’s plan.

  • Yagura sent an urgent appeal to the other four Kage after the Akatsuki captured Kirigakure’s Six-Tails Jinchuriki, prompting the villages to prepare for a Five Kage Summit in Konoha.
  • Ōnoki, the Acting Kazekage, and Yagura led elite forces toward the Land of Fire and stationed their troops near Konoha’s border.
  • Hiruzen challenged Minato’s decision to prepare for war, but Minato insisted that the Akatsuki had to be stopped before it gathered all the Tailed Beasts.
  • Minato asserted his authority as Hokage, and Hiruzen left after warning him that he would regret his decision.
  • An intelligence shinobi reported that the three Kage were nearing Konoha and that Kumogakure’s movements remained unclear.
  • Minato watched over Konoha and thought that Pero’s show was about to begin.

Ch. 29Pero's Sunbath

Pero created a golden clone to oversee the Akatsuki, then traveled to the Sun to absorb energy and grow stronger. As he settled into a sunbath, his clone opened its eyes and smiled, signaling that the show had begun.

  • Pero created a golden clone and told Nagato, Konan, Yahiko, Rin, and Obito that it would manage the Akatsuki while he was away.
  • Pero left for the Sun, telling the group to contact him when the Otsutsuki appeared and warning them not to make trouble.
  • Pero traveled beyond the planet and saw his energy absorption efficiency surge as he approached the Sun.
  • Pero ignored the system's warning and plunged into the Sun, where his energy absorption increased dramatically.
  • Pero lay on a lava flow to enjoy his sunbath, while the clone opened its eyes and smiled back at the office.

Ch. 30The Five Kage met again, and again, and again

Nagato’s attack on Kumogakure forced Raikage A to join the alliance, and the Five Kage began planning an assault on Akatsuki after learning its strongest fighter was away. Black Zetsu watched their preparations and moved toward resurrecting his mother with a red-haired Uzumaki girl.

  • Nagato and the others devastated Kumogakure, wounded Killer B, and captured Yugito Nii.
  • Raikage A found his village ruined and agreed to join the alliance against Akatsuki.
  • The Kage mocked A until he arrived at their meeting and demanded an immediate attack.
  • Minato shared intelligence that Akatsuki’s strongest fighter was absent, and the Five Kage began planning their assault.
  • Black Zetsu observed the meeting, then returned beneath Mountain's Grave and prepared to use the sleeping Uzumaki girl for Rinne Rebirth.

Ch. 31Obito's daily life

Obito struggled to keep up with Rin and Yahiko in training, then discovered Kakuzu had tricked him about owing money for repairs. Yahiko spotted an approaching force and sent a paper crane to alert the office.

  • Obito used Wood Release to chase Yahiko, but Yahiko dodged his attacks and teased him about his weakened technique.
  • Rin advised Obito to improve his chakra control, then defeated him in a spar by striking his openings and returning his attacks against him.
  • Kakuzu demanded that Obito pay for training-ground repairs, prompting Obito to ask Yahiko for a loan.
  • Yahiko explained that Akatsuki had a fixed budget for repairs, and Obito realized Kakuzu had tricked him.
  • Yahiko spotted figures and chess pieces approaching in the distance, sent a paper crane toward the office, and recognized them as the allied forces Pero had mentioned.

Ch. 32At the Gates

The Five Kage assembled the Allied Shinobi Forces and led them into the Land of Rain, where they found Amegakure silent and apparently undefended. As the army prepared to face the city, a figure beneath the Pure Land sensed that history had gone off course.

  • Minato rallied the gathered shinobi, and the Allied Shinobi Forces marched toward the Land of Rain.
  • Kakashi followed Minato while privately troubled by growing power in Obito’s Sharingan and recurring dreams of his Lightning Blade being stopped by an indistinct figure.
  • The army entered the Land of Rain and crushed hidden posts and traps, but found no Rain Ninja patrols.
  • At dusk, the Five Kage reached a hill and saw the silent, steel-built Amegakure across a lake.
  • Beneath the Pure Land, the White Old Man opened his Rinnegan and wondered why history seemed to have gone off course.

Ch. 33The Great Battle (Part One)

The Allied Shinobi Forces attacked Amegakure, but Nagato, Konan, and Yahiko effortlessly countered their opening assault and destroyed a massive combined ninjutsu with Yahiko’s enormous Water Release. The Five Kage, two jinchūriki, and Minato joined the battle, and the Allies’ coordinated attacks began to turn the tide.

  • The Raikage ordered the Allied Shinobi Forces to attack Amegakure, but Nagato, Konan, and Yahiko appeared and warned them to stop.
  • The Raikage declared that the Allies had come to destroy Akatsuki, and Yahiko announced that Akatsuki would bring peace under its leadership.
  • Konan’s paper shield and Nagato’s Shinra Tensei neutralized the Allies’ initial ninjutsu barrage.
  • The Allied Shinobi Forces launched a combined attack of five chakra natures, but Yahiko’s enormous Water Release scattered it and left the army in despair.
  • The Raikage ordered the Allies to retreat and provide support as he, Ōnoki, Yagura, the Acting Kazekage, Hán, Killer B, and Minato entered the battle.
  • The Five Kage, jinchūriki, and Minato coordinated their attacks against the Akatsuki trio, and the Raikage sensed that the Allies were close to gaining an advantage.

Ch. 34The Great Battle (Part Two)

The Five Kage and allied shinobi unleashed a second combined attack, but Yahiko, Nagato, and Konan entered their strongest states and erased it with a single punch. Obito and Rin appeared on the battlefield, and Kakashi remembered Pero’s role in his nightmares and began to suspect Minato.

  • The Five Kage and the two jinchūriki kept Yahiko, Nagato, and Konan occupied while the allied shinobi prepared a second combined ninjutsu.
  • Kakashi used Kamui on Yahiko, but Yahiko escaped the spatial technique in a burst of golden light.
  • The allied forces launched a huge chakra sphere, and Yahiko, Nagato, and Konan transformed and dispersed it with a single punch.
  • Obito and Rin arrived, and Kakashi recognized his lost friend and the girl from his nightmares.
  • Kakashi remembered Pero, Obito, Rin, and Minato, then turned toward Minato with growing terror.

Ch. 35Do you want to dance too?

Kakashi recognized Obito and Rin alive among the Akatsuki, while Nagato captured the Five-Tails and Eight-Tails and prepared a sealing formation. Madara arrived on the battlefield carrying an unknown winged figure and challenged the allied forces.

  • Kakashi saw Obito and Rin in Akatsuki robes and realized Minato had confirmed they were alive, while Minato encouraged him with a nod.
  • Nagato used Banshō Ten'in to pull Hán and Killer B to him, then changed their eyes to Rinnegan.
  • Konan stopped Ōnoki and A from reaching Nagato as he extracted the Five-Tails and Eight-Tails, sealed them in urns, and returned the unconscious Jinchūriki alive.
  • Nagato summoned six more sealing urns and arranged them with the two tailed beasts' urns, leaving one gap in the circle.
  • Madara crashed into the lake carrying an unknown winged figure, emerged in Warring States-era armor, and challenged the allied ninja to dance.

Ch. 36Prelude to the Dance

Black Zetsu resurrected Madara Uchiha and Hashirama Senju outside Takigakure, where Madara drained Hashirama’s senjutsu chakra before attacking the village. Madara captured Fū, the Seven-Tails Jinchūriki, and set out for Amegakure to claim the remaining Tailed Beasts.

  • Black Zetsu used Impure World Reincarnation to revive Madara Uchiha with a Takigakure shinobi as a sacrifice.
  • Black Zetsu explained that the Five Kage and Akatsuki’s core members were gathered in Amegakure and that the Seven-Tails was in Takigakure.
  • Madara ordered Black Zetsu to revive Hashirama Senju, then drained Hashirama’s senjutsu chakra after Hashirama briefly broke free of the reincarnation’s control.
  • Madara attacked Takigakure and left the village burning with the unconscious Seven-Tails Jinchūriki, Fū, in his possession.
  • Madara handed Fū to Black Zetsu and headed toward the Land of Rain to join the battle in Amegakure.

Ch. 37Madara's dance

Madara Uchiha emerged on the battlefield and overwhelmed the Allied Shinobi Forces, defeating Raikage A and devastating the army with his Susanoo and taijutsu. After the fighting left the Five Kage wounded and most allied shinobi fallen, Madara turned his attention to Nagato and the other Akatsuki members.

  • Madara Uchiha appeared before the Allied Shinobi Forces, and the Five Kage and allied ranks recognized him as the legendary shinobi.
  • Madara used an invisible repulsive force to stop Raikage A’s charge, then kicked him back into the allied ranks.
  • Ōnoki and the other Kage led a combined assault, but Madara summoned his Perfect Susanoo to withstand the barrage.
  • Madara entered the allied army, battered shinobi with taijutsu, and used Fire Style: Majestic Destroyer Flame to inflict heavy losses.
  • Madara left more than half the allied shinobi fallen and the Five Kage wounded, then told the five Akatsuki members that their turn had come.

Ch. 38Madara Uchiha's resurrection

Madara Uchiha defeated the five Akatsuki members, took Nagato’s Rinnegan, and used Rinne Rebirth to revive himself. After draining senjutsu chakra from a newly reincarnated Hashirama and restoring his other eye, Madara prepared to summon the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path.

  • Black Zetsu secretly undid the seals on the eight tailed beasts while Madara fought Nagato, Yahiko, Rin, Obito, and Konan.
  • Madara exploited the Akatsuki’s distraction to grievously wound all five, then gouged out Nagato’s Rinnegan.
  • Black Zetsu used Rinne Rebirth to revive Madara, who discovered that the technique had removed the senjutsu chakra he had absorbed.
  • Madara had Black Zetsu reincarnate Hashirama with Impure World Reincarnation and drained his senjutsu chakra, healing his wounds and gaining sage markings.
  • Madara restored his second Rinnegan and summoned the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path.

Ch. 39The Ten-Tails Descends

Madara Uchiha used the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path to capture and absorb all Nine Tailed Beasts, restoring it as the Ten-Tails. He celebrated its return and turned his attention to the five members of the Akatsuki for the final step.

  • Madara Uchiha poured his chakra and Senjutsu into the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path, awakening it and unleashing chains that seized the Tailed Beasts.
  • The chains impaled Fū and extracted Seven-Tails Chōmei, leaving Fū fatally wounded as Chōmei was dragged toward the statue.
  • The statue absorbed the Nine Tailed Beasts as torrents of chakra and began to transform.
  • The Ten-Tails fully emerged, and the five members of the Akatsuki watched in shock.
  • Madara Uchiha addressed Hashirama and declared that the Ten-Tails embodied the power he had sought, then turned his Rinnegan toward the Akatsuki members for the final step.

Ch. 40Pero's clone

Nagato and Yahiko tried to stop the Ten-Tails from destroying Amegakure, but their attacks failed to restrain it. Pero’s clone appeared and knocked the beast away, leaving Madara to realize Pero had never left the village.

  • Nagato and Yahiko rushed to stop the Ten-Tails as its awakening threatened to destroy Amegakure.
  • Yahiko attacked Madara Uchiha, but Madara calmly blocked his kick.
  • Nagato used Adamantine Sealing Chains to restrain the Ten-Tails, but the beast broke them within seconds.
  • Pero’s clone arrived and punched the Ten-Tails into the distant hills, giving Nagato a moment of relief.
  • Madara recognized Pero’s overwhelming power and concluded that Pero had never left Amegakure.
