In the square outside Courthouse Tower, the Straw Hat Pirates were still basking in their victory over Cipher Pol No. 9 when suddenly, every broadcast conch on Enies Lobby blared a piercing alarm. Then Spandam's voice, thick with tears, rang out across the island:

"Th-the Buster Call has been activated! In ten minutes! All Marine warships will subject Enies Lobby to indiscriminate bombardment! Ten minutes! All of Enies Lobby will be razed to the ground!"

Everyone froze.

The key in Nami's hand clattered to the ground, and her face went white. "Wh-what? A Buster Call?"

"It was that bastard Spandam!" Franky slammed his steel fist into the wall, leaving a crater. "When he ran off just now, he accidentally pressed the Golden Den Den Mushi! The signal's already gone out! Once they receive it, all the nearby Marine gunships will come here to blast this place flat!"

Luffy was stunned too. He looked at the ruins around them, then toward the sea. Where was their ship? They had no ship! Rocketman was already broken. They had no ship to escape on!

"What do we do? What are we going to do?" Chopper huddled in Nami's arms, trembling all over. "We don't have a ship! We can't get away!"

Zoro tightened his grip on the swords at his waist, his gaze darkening. "What's there to be afraid of? We can always swim out!"
