Morning reading had just ended, and a crowd had gathered around the noticeboard again.
A piece of pink parchment was posted right in the middle.
The title was long.
"Supplementary Notice on Student Clubs Activities."
Ron was the first to screw up his face.
"What does she want now?"
Hermione had already started reading down the page.
"All currently registered school clubs shall remain in place."
"Those serving the purpose of extending students' learning are encouraged to continue their regular activities."
"New clubs may submit supplementary registrations to the Academic Affairs Office."
"No clubs may be formed in the name of a house, family, or bloodline."
"No underground organizations or private power bases may be developed."
"What is this supposed to mean?"
Ron turned to Harry.
"Just a few days ago, she was running us half to death."
Harry stared at the second line without speaking.
Hermione finished reading the remaining points.
"Each club shall coordinate its own activity schedule."
"Activities must not interfere with morning training, morning reading, regular classes, evening study, or reviews of incorrect answers."
Ron raised a hand.
"Coordinate our own schedules?"
"She's filled up the entire day."
"And she still expects us to find the time ourselves."
Hermione said quietly.
"That's the point."
"She hasn't axed the clubs."
"She's pushed the responsibility back onto the students."
Harry saw Umbridge approaching from the other end of the corridor.
Her pink low-heeled shoes moved with steady steps.
She stopped in front of the noticeboard.
"Good morning, children."
Hardly anyone answered her.
She did not mind.
"I imagine you'll like this notice."
"Hogwarts needs good grades."
"It also needs well-rounded development."
The corner of Ron's mouth twitched.
"Well-rounded development."
"She's got some nerve saying that."
Umbridge had already turned to Harry.
"Mr. Potter."
"That Detective Club of yours."
