Douglas was sleeping soundly when he suddenly heard a student calling him.
"Professor?
Professor Holmes?"
He woke at once and grabbed the wand beside his pillow.
He remembered putting plenty of spells on his room before bed, precisely so he could enjoy sleeping in.
Now a student's voice was coming from his office. That should have been impossible.
Wand in hand, he hurried to the bedroom door and was even more astonished to see the Trio in the room.
But after glancing at the undamaged door, he pointed his wand straight at them.
"Good morning...
Miss Granger, what's your family's car registration number?
Mr. Potter, what's the name of the street next to my house?"
Before the Trio could rejoice at seeing Douglas in his dressing gown, they saw him aim his wand at them.
Hermione hurriedly pulled the stunned Harry and Ron behind her. After all, she had brought them here. If anything happened to them...
Before she could think any further, Douglas's questions left her bewildered. Of course, Harry and Ron were equally baffled.
"Car registration number? JDX733F."
"Professor, it's Magnolia Crescent."
"Er, Professor, why didn't you ask me?"
Hearing their answers, Douglas put his wand away. In his view, even if a wizard had used Polyjuice Potion to turn into the three of them, and even obtained plenty of information through Legilimency, they certainly wouldn't pay attention to things from the Muggle world-especially things people normally paid little attention to, like car registrations and neighboring streets.
Douglas tried to make his smile look a little kinder.
"Oh, I'm sorry I frightened you... There's no need to be so nervous.
By the way, how did you get in? I remember putting quite a few Protective Charms on the door."
Ron felt ignored.
