The Weasley twins led Harry to a corner of the Castle.
Harry looked at the two of them, all nerves, and asked in puzzlement:
"What on earth happened?"
George said solemnly:
"Don't ask. We'll ask, and you answer."
Fred asked quietly:
"Does Professor Holmes have any other pets called Prongs, Moony, or Wormtail?"
Seeing their expectant looks, Harry shook his head:
"What are those?"
George and Fred exchanged a glance and were just about to say something.
Suddenly, they heard a voice they loathed:
"What are you doing! Footprints everywhere, mud..."
At that, all three took to their heels. Harry followed George and Fred through turn after turn, until they finally reached the Gryffindor Common Room and could no longer hear Mr. Filch's curses.
Once back in the Common Room, George and Fred calmed down and told Harry:
"Stay here. Don't go anywhere."
"We'll be right back."
With that, they ran toward the Dormitory.
Harry opened his mouth, thinking that it was the boys' Dormitory, not the girls'. Why did they have to make him wait here?
Once in the Dormitory, George and Fred dug out the Marauder's Map.
"Ah, looks like it's time to give it away."
"Good thing we've memorized all those secret passages."
George sighed and said:
"Back on the pitch, I was wondering why the professor suddenly started stroking the head of the dog beside him."
Fred said in puzzlement:
"Uh, you saw him stroking its head? He was patting its head when I flew past."
Neither of them had thought anything of it at first, but then they heard Harry say the dog was called Padfoot.
A sudden flash of inspiration struck them both. They thought this was Douglas's reminder to them, that he wanted them to give Harry the Marauder's Map.
