The two had long since figured out the box's construction and the magic inside it designed specifically to deceive people.
Throughout Harry's prize draws, the box had remained in Fred's hands.
That was so Fred could change the contents of the slips between Harry's draws.
Only now did Harry understand why they kept emphasizing the fragments' colors. So they served this purpose too.
But he thought it over. Wasn't he only seven fragments short? Even if his luck was terrible and he got one each time, that would only take seven Galleons. With the three from before, that made ten Galleons in total.
Compared with the value of the Marauder's Map, that was still worth it.
Harry briskly took out a Galleon, then reached inside.
"Fortune smiles, the map is yours! Congratulations, you've won three Orange Map Fragments!"
"Only four Orange Map Fragments to go!"
This brought another involuntary hint of a smile to Harry's face. He had saved another two Galleons.
"Fortune smiles, the map is yours! Congratulations, you've won three Orange Map Fragments!"
"Only one Orange Map Fragment to go!"
Harry's smile grew brighter and brighter. He took out another Galleon and handed it to George. He refused to believe another fragment of a different color could turn up again.
Just then, George stopped his outstretched hand and said:
"Harry, according to the rules, for every five Galleons you spend, you can choose to pay one Galleon for a roll of the die. Whatever number you roll, you get that many draws in a row."
Harry hesitated at this and asked cautiously:
"There won't be a third color of fragment, will there?"
George and Fred shrugged and said in unison:
"I don't know either!"
Harry swallowed and asked again:
"That die won't have blank faces too, will it?"
