Suddenly, Umbridge raised her voice and stressed:
"So, if the results of this diagnostic test are unsatisfactory, the Ministry of Magic will consider adding a new course at Hogwarts... Oh, the Minister has already discussed this with the Headmaster."
Dumbledore smiled and nodded.
"Indeed, I find this course very interesting..."
Douglas glanced at Umbridge. It seemed Dumbledore and Fudge's honeymoon period had come to an end. They simply had not fallen out completely yet, so they were taking this relatively mild approach to intervening in Hogwarts' management. Dumbledore probably had plans of his own as well.
Seeing that no one objected, Umbridge said with a broad smile:
"So, how does Hogwarts intend to arrange the first W.O.M.B.A.T. diagnostic test? Every student in the school must take it!"
Professor McGonagall thought for a moment before saying:
"Let's hold it after the exams on Friday. I certainly don't want it taking away from the time students have to revise for their other subjects."
A flicker of displeasure crossed Umbridge's face. Just as she was about to say that this test was every bit as important as the others,
Douglas quickly stepped forward to support Professor McGonagall's decision, and the other professors voiced their agreement one after another.
Seeing the Hogwarts professors united so firmly behind Professor McGonagall, Umbridge put on what she considered a sweet smile and addressed Dumbledore, who had said nothing:
"Oh, this scene almost made me forget that you are the Headmaster."
Dumbledore shrugged and said earnestly:
"Of course I agree with Minerva's decision, Minister Umbridge!"
Afterward, Umbridge had someone collect the W.O.M.B.A.T. test papers and emphasized that their contents had to remain confidential.
As class time approached, Professor McGonagall arranged for all fifth-year and Seventh Year students to sit their exams in the Great Hall, following the O.W.L.
