When Harry left Douglas's office, he took none of the rewards with him, nor did he bring out the Firebolt. He wanted to keep the Firebolt as a secret weapon for next term's Quidditch matches.
When he appeared in the Great Hall, the members gathered there waiting for him looked disappointed at the sight of his empty hands.
Most of them still came forward to pat Harry on the shoulder and reassure him:
"It's all right if there aren't any rewards. After all, we really didn't complete the mission as well as we could have."
"But we didn't come away empty-handed, either. A corner of the Daily Prophet covered some of our Charon Detective Agency's achievements, even if it did say we had help from the Aurors."
"Harry, don't be upset. Don't forget we still have the Galleons provided by the generous Mr. Malfoy."
"Harry, did you have hot pot? Beef-tallow hot pot, at that?"
Harry, who had been keeping a straight face and wanted to keep up the act a little longer, quickly smiled at those words and changed the subject:
"Don't worry, everyone. We haven't missed out on a single reward. Tomorrow morning at ten, we'll hold an awards ceremony at the Charon Detective Agency. You'll never guess who I've invited!"
George and Fred called out from the side:
"Merlin's beard, you haven't invited Professor Holmes, have you?"
"We won't have to recite a passage from the textbook before we get our rewards, will we?"
Harry cleared his throat and announced loudly, "Attending tomorrow's awards ceremony will be the very target of this project, my godfather, Mr. Sirius Black, as well as Professor Lupin."
