Douglas watched Professor Snape approach.
He curled his lip. Show-off. As if no one else could invent a Silencing Charm.
But he soon noticed that only Professor Sprout and Professor Snape had come.
He frowned slightly, wondering what major event could have taken both the Headmaster and Deputy Headmistress away from school.
Otherwise, with all this commotion, Dumbledore should have arrived long ago.
After running over, Professor Sprout instinctively covered her nose.
"Douglas, what on earth happened here? What is all this?
"Did Peeves do all of it?
"Fat Friar, why are all the ghosts here?"
Then, before anyone could answer, she noticed Filch standing there, trembling all over yet staring at Peeves with excitement written across his face.
"Oh, heavens, Argus, what happened to you? I suggest you hurry back and take a bath. This water has such a peculiar smell...
"And what is that?"
The two people who had been hiding beneath the sheet discovered that someone had finally noticed them.
At last. It certainly hadn't been easy.
They hurried out from under the sheet.
"Professor, it's us!"
"Professor, we didn't do this!"
"Yes, George never fought back, because they were serving detention!"
"Professor, Fred kept dodging too, because they didn't want to lose points!"
Professor Sprout looked taken aback, then said:
"Of course. I mean, well done, both of you!
"Your detention is over for today.
"Sorry for the trouble, Mr. Weasley and Mr. Weasley, but please escort Mr. Filch back to his room first.
"Then return to Gryffindor yourselves!
"This place really is a mess!"
With that, she set about cleaning the water off the floor with a spell.
George and Fred immediately refused:
"Professor, I don't think we can leave yet!"
"We haven't finished our detention work!"
"Peeves interrupted us!"
"We know everything that happened!"
