I've Got Your Back!

Lin Qi paid no more attention to the blind eerie that had fallen into the ditch. His gaze settled on the eerie villagers ahead, who were frantically attacking the vehicles.

"I Fine You 800 Yuan!"

Now that he finally had a chance, he naturally intended to use up every last use.

The eerie villagers whose Ghost Cash had been stolen roared in fury, clearly going berserk. Unable to find the cause, they attacked the vehicles even more frantically, leaving the already grim-faced survivors even more tense.

Once Niu Wudi cleared away the eerie villagers, the convoy finally began moving forward.

But after clearing away that wave of eeries, he rushed into the green-dressed girl's small truck, dragging a shoulder with half an arm that had turned into paper.

Paper money was still falling steadily from the sky, and the survivors naturally saw Niu Wudi's miserable condition. Only when the paper money landed without turning their vehicles into paper did they finally breathe a sigh of relief.

The roar of engines sounded especially harsh in the night.

With the road cleared, the eerie villagers clearly could no longer keep pace with the convoy.

The Opera Performer on the stage, however, had no intention of letting the survivors go.

"My dear husband~~"

"Do not leave~~~"

The operatic singing reverberated through the air without warning.

Lin Qi looked up through the small slit cut into the roof. At some point, the Opera Performer had left his original location. Several pieces of paper money had transformed into paper figures, carrying the stage as it hovered in the air!

"I'll hold him off! You go!"

When Niu Wudi saw the Opera Performer appear, he once again came into everyone's view.

His transformation into paper had vanished. In its place, two additional arms had appeared out of thin air on Niu Wudi's upper body!

As Niu Wudi shouted, his body rapidly expanded, turning into a four-armed Giant Bear in the blink of an eye!

"Hiss, that girl can even do that?!"

Lin Qi sucked in a sharp breath at the sight. Based on what he had observed last time, he had thought the green-dressed girl's healing came with side effects. He had not expected it to provide additional enhancements too!

Niu Wudi held off the Red-Clothed Opera Performer.

The convoy picked up speed, faster and faster, until it reached a relatively open stretch.

Lin Qi's gaze shifted, and he was about to floor the accelerator, overtake the vehicle ahead, and race to the very front.

However, several vehicles ahead seemed to have much the same idea.

Before he could put his plan into action, several vehicles shot forward at once. Perhaps none of them had expected the others to accelerate so suddenly.

Crash!

Two vehicles slammed into each other. It was clearly too late for the third to brake, and another crash rang out.

In an instant, all three vehicles and their occupants were thrown into chaos.

"Help! Help!"

The collision had warped the doors of the three vehicles, and the survivors trapped in their seats screamed and wailed.

The Transcendent Squad's convoy in the lead did not so much as glance at the three vehicles. They simply floored their accelerators and sped far ahead.

The survivors behind them likewise had no intention of stopping.

With those three vehicles out of the convoy, the remaining vehicles actually picked up even more speed!

Lin Qi passed the crash site. Seeing that no one ahead was trying to overtake anymore, he dutifully switched on his turn signal, floored the accelerator, and surged forward.

"Fuck, are you idiots?!"

Just as Lin Qi reached third place, an angry curse came from behind.

He glanced into the rearview mirror and saw Niu Wudi descend from the sky and wrench a car door open.

Freed from their confinement, several survivors scrambled out and ran desperately after the convoy.

The eerie villagers were still pursuing them from behind. If they were even a second too slow, they would become food for the villagers.

Seeing them flee, Niu Wudi accelerated and swiftly reached the small truck again. This time, both his arms had turned into paper.

The small truck now seemed to have become an endlessly reusable healing station. Whenever something happened to Niu Wudi, he would rush straight to it, then return to the fight fully restored.

Watching this, Lin Qi took a few more looks at the small truck.

The green-dressed girl's ability might not offer much combat power, but it was absolutely the strongest support. If she had not entered the village with the convoy, the survivors would probably all have died at the Red-Clothed Opera Performer's hands.

Lin Qi drove alongside the small truck.

He looked up at the truck's passenger seat. Sitting there was the green-dressed girl he had met a few times before, but she did not look well now.

She seemed to have pushed herself to some limit, her entire pretty face deathly pale!

Lin Qi's heart sank at the sight of her.

They still had roughly two kilometers to go before returning to the convoy.

Without the green-dressed girl to keep Niu Wudi going, things would probably go wrong!

While Lin Qi was observing the green-dressed girl, she sensed someone looking at her and likewise turned to look out the window.

She visibly froze for a moment when she saw Lin Qi, then a smile appeared on her pale face. "Give me a hand. You're so quick-witted, I'm sure you can help."

"Me? Help?"

Lin Qi grew wary. Had she figured out his ability?

Very soon, she dispelled his doubts. "You must've collected some Ghost Cash along the way, kid. Lend me some. I'll pay you back in a couple of days."

"Don't worry, you won't be lending it for nothing. I can let you join my squad."

Hearing the green-dressed girl ask to borrow Ghost Cash, Lin Qi thought it over, then used his pocket as cover and took a thousand Ghost Cash out of the system.

Without the system, he might have felt the pinch, but now that he had it, a thousand Ghost Cash was practically nothing.

When the green-dressed girl saw the thousand Ghost Cash in Lin Qi's hand, her weary eyes immediately brightened. She swiftly reached out and snatched it, her eyes narrowing almost to slits. "Don't worry. I, Green Radish, keep my word!"

"All right, but forget about joining the convoy. I prefer being alone. I don't want to take orders from someone else." Lin Qi rejected her invitation outright. The same reasoning still applied: he had too many secrets, and possessing a treasure could itself be a crime. Countless people had lost their lives over that throughout history, and he had not lived long enough yet.

"Heh, you're an interesting one, kid. Other people beg everyone under the sun to get in, but you..." Green Radish blinked twice. "Suit yourself. If you don't want to join, don't. From now on, I've got your back in the convoy. Just come to me if you run into trouble."

"Got it."

Lin Qi accepted her goodwill. Having an Extraordinary owe him a favor would definitely make things much more comfortable on this journey of escape through the apocalypse.

As for the name she had given him, he did not believe it was actually the green-dressed girl's name. It sounded more like a code name.

Boom!

Just as the two were talking, a dark shape suddenly plummeted into the field beside the convoy.

Both turned to look at once. It was Niu Wudi, most of whose body had already begun turning into paper!

Apart from his exposed head, practically every other part of him had been covered by the paper transformation!

Green Radish's expression changed drastically at the sight. "Niu Wudi, have you lost your mind?! You're fucking dying, and you didn't think to come to me?!"
