Little Shanna's Snowball Fight

As Little Shanna walked toward the Training Ground, she admired the scenery in the garden.

Another heavy snowfall had come last night, covering the entire garden in pristine white snow.

Little Shanna loved snow because she thought the scenery after a snowfall was beautiful. More importantly, whenever it snowed, Gege would have snowball fights with her and build snowmen with her. It was always so much fun.

Speaking of snowball fights, there had not been a heavy snowfall last winter, so the last time she had fought snowballs with Gege was two years ago. Little Shanna could not help recalling their last snowball fight.

"Shanna, you have your own Wand now, so let's use Wands for our snowball fight today," Gege suggested, his usual gentle smile on his face.

"A snowball fight with Wands? How do we do that?" Little Shanna asked in confusion.

"It isn't all that different from fighting without Wands," Gege explained. "But with Wands, we can draw on magic more easily and quickly, so the intensity will be greater. We can also use Curses to assist us."

"Okay!"

Although she did not quite understand, Little Shanna had no reason to refuse anything Gege suggested.

"Then let me explain a few rules first. First, since this is a snowball fight, you cannot use any elements other than snow, such as fire, wind, lightning, and so on. Ice is allowed, though, because it is a variation of snow. Second, you cannot use Curses to attack directly. You can only use them on snow to assist your attacks—for example, using Transfiguration to reshape snow. However, you may use Curses directly for defense, such as the Shield Charm. Third, the snowball fight is limited to the garden. You cannot run outside. Any questions?"

"No, Gege!"

"Very good. Then let's put thirty meters between us... Are you ready?... Begin!"

At Gege's command, Little Shanna first cast a Shield Charm on herself.

The Shield Charm was a spell Gege had always stressed she must learn immediately. To become proficient at casting it, Little Shanna had practiced diligently for an entire month. Gege said that for a qualified wizard, don't worry about anything at the start—put a shield on yourself first was basic common sense. Any wizard who charged in without a shield was an idiot.

Little Shanna had always believed Gege's advice without question.

Everything Gege says is right!

Little Shanna waved her Wand, controlling several snowballs as they rose into the air before firing them swiftly at Gege.

"Too straightforward, Shanna. You should use Curses more flexibly."

Gege stood still, and the several snowballs simply veered off their original trajectories. With a light wave of his Wand, several Snow Birds rose from the ground. They traced erratic paths through the air, dodged Shanna's interception, and struck her shield.

"You can do this too."

As Gege spoke, he cast another Curse on the Snow Birds. They opened their beaks and spat out Ice Cones, shattering Little Shanna's shield.

Little Shanna hurriedly activated her Flying Shoes and instantly left her original position. After casting another Shield Charm on herself, she unleashed several more Curses in succession and finally shot down all the Snow Birds.

But before she could counterattack, the snow beneath her feet suddenly turned serpentine and coiled around her body. Left with no choice, she erupted with magic power and forced everything around her away.

"Shanna, if you don't try harder, Gege is going to win."

Little Shanna stood where she was and caught her breath. At last, she straightened up, her little face filled with determination.

She waved her Wand, gathering all the snow around her at its tip, then took a deep breath.

"Engorgio!"

The large snowball rapidly expanded into an enormous one, leaving Gege nowhere to escape. So he gave up dodging, gathered his magic power, and released a blast that shattered the enormous snowball. In an instant, scattered snowflakes filled the entire garden, leaving nothing but a sea of white in sight.

"That's a very good idea, but how will you determine my location, Shanna?"

Little Shanna swiftly fired Ice Cones toward the source of his voice, but there was nothing there.

She poured magic power into her Flying Shoes and leaped into the air, observing the movements below from above. Then she transformed snow into Ice Cones, ready to launch them at any moment.

At last, the snowy mist thinned somewhat, and she clearly saw Gege's location. Wave after wave of Ice Cones shot out in batches, trying to seal off his paths of escape. But Gege was too fast. Even the ones he could not avoid were shattered with a wave of his Wand.

Seeing that the Ice Cones could not pose a real threat, Little Shanna imitated Gege and transformed ice into Ice Birds, sending them circling around him as they attacked without pause.

Ice Birds were constantly shattered, only to be constantly replenished. Just as the battle seemed about to turn into a simple war of attrition, Gege controlled the snow to form a net, wrapping all the Ice Birds within it before firing them toward the top of her head.

"Explode!"

All the Ice Birds above her head exploded. The shockwave and ice shards from the Ice Explosion battered her Shield Charm and knocked her back to the ground.

Having barely managed to land safely with her Flying Shoes, Little Shanna had no time to breathe a sigh of relief before she quickly jumped away again. Several Ice Cones pierced the spot where she had just been standing.

"Do you need a rest?" Gege asked with a smile.

Little Shanna pouted.

"Gege, why can't I hit you no matter what I do? I don't even know what Curses I should use anymore."

"Don't be impatient, Shanna. There are countless Curses, but knowing more Curses does not make someone stronger. Combat is actually a very simple matter. There are only three things you need to do: attack, defend, and move. Do those well, and you can achieve victory. All right, I'm coming at you now."

With that, Gege waved his Wand, and a great amount of snow gathered beneath his feet, forming a Snow Dragon.

The Snow Dragon roared and charged at her. Biting, wing strikes, tail strikes, breath attacks—the Snow Dragon used every method it could to attack Little Shanna.

Little Shanna either neutralized the attacks with her own, used Curses to defend, or relied on her Flying Shoes to evade. They fought from the ground to the sky, then from the sky back to the ground. Ice Cones flew out continuously, while blasts of breath swept across the battlefield again and again. Like a hero challenging an evil dragon, she never gave up no matter how bedraggled she became.

Finally, Little Shanna seized an opportunity and slipped beneath the Snow Dragon's belly. After charging up briefly, she cast a Curse that pierced straight through the Snow Dragon.

Gege, who had been standing on the Snow Dragon's back, was blasted away by the Curse and fell to the ground. Little Shanna immediately controlled the snow around his landing spot, transforming it into ropes that bound him in place. Then she condensed a large snowball and hurled it at him.

Boom—!

A huge crater appeared before her eyes, with Gege lying at the bottom.

"Gege—!"

Little Shanna was terrified. She had not thought much about it just now and had instinctively attacked. Only now did she realize what she had done, and she hurriedly jumped into the crater.

"Gege, I'm sorry! Are you okay? I didn't mean to!"

"Don't cry, Shanna. Gege is fine." Gege got up and patted Little Shanna's head, comforting her. "Shanna is amazing. Gege admits defeat, hahaha!"

"What are you two doing!?"

Mom Elena's voice came from afar. Seeing the once lovely garden now riddled with pits and craters, Little Shanna's little face flushed red with embarrassment, while Gege's laughter grew even louder.

Before she knew it, Shanna had arrived outside the Training Room.

From one of the Training Rooms came a constant series of "bang~ bang~" sounds. Shanna knew that was the sound Gege made while training. She walked over and gently pushed open the door to the Training Room.
