The First Day Without Gege (Part 2)

Although she felt that something was off, none of that mattered now. What mattered most was growing up quickly. She absolutely could not let Mom steal Gege away!

Shanna hurriedly got out of bed and washed up. She decided to eat more for breakfast and make up for everything she had not eaten last night. Otherwise, would she not grow up a whole night later than everyone else!?

Seeing his Daughter rush into the dining room and wolf down her breakfast, William, who had been anxiously scratching his head, finally relaxed. If his Daughter had still refused to come out for breakfast, he would have scratched all his hair out.

"Sweetheart, eat slowly. If it isn't enough, I'll have the House-elves prepare more."

Though he was very curious about how his wife had persuaded their Daughter, now was not the time to ask.

"What does Shanna want to do after breakfast? Do you want Dad to take you out to play?"

"No! I still have training after breakfast! I will never lose to Mom!"

"???"

Looking at the fighting spirit burning in his Daughter's eyes, William grew even more curious. Yet what he felt more was disappointment. He could not even remember how long it had been since he had taken his Daughter out to play, just the two of them. It seemed like they had never done that before?

After breakfast, Shanna rested for a while before running to the Training Room. In order to surpass Mom as soon as possible, Shanna decided that starting today, she would double her training!

In her innocence, Little Shanna had never considered the fact that she had never seen Mom train. The only thought left in her mind was, I can't let Mom steal Gege away.

That afternoon, Shanna grew a little bored after tiring herself out with training. Usually, at this time, she would either be playing or studying with Gege. But starting today, Gege would no longer be there to keep her company. Thinking of this, Shanna no longer wanted to read those dull magic books.

After thinking for a while, Shanna decided to go play in the mountains near her home. Ever since Gege had taken her there once last Christmas, she had never gone back in.

Gege had said that she could not enter the mountains too frequently. She had to give the animals in the mountains time to recuperate and reproduce. This was called sustainable development. Shanna felt that more than half a year had already passed. The animals should have rested enough by now, right?

Those animals were far too lazy. Whenever Shanna finished training or got tired from playing, she usually only needed to rest for a little while. Even after the most exhausting time, she had never rested for more than a day.

Kind Little Shanna felt that she had to help the little animals improve their physical fitness and change their bad, lazy habits. It just so happened that she was in a bad mood today... No, that was wrong. It just so happened that she had free time today!

Gege always praised her, saying, "Shanna is a good girl." So she definitely would not go looking for trouble with others just because she was in a bad mood or anything.

Pouring Magic Power into her Flying Shoes, Shanna quickly flew to the edge of the mountains, then walked in without hesitation.

After wandering around the mountains for a while, Shanna was surprised to discover that not a single little animal had appeared.

Unable to find a target to vent on... Ahem, unable to find any tasty little animals (which seemed even worse?), Shanna's mood worsened! She wanted to use the Magic Power sensing technique Gege had taught her to search for the little animals, but after trying, she found that she still could not use Magic Power sensing to search for targets in such a complex natural environment.

Furious, Little Shanna decided to teach those disobedient little animals a lesson. She had clearly come to help them improve their physical fitness, yet not one of them had obediently appeared before her. It was simply outrageous!

Shanna remembered Gege saying that unless it was necessary, she should not set fire to the woods. Good girl Shanna kept Gege's teachings firmly in mind, so she decided to use the ice-element Curses she was best at.

Raising her Wand, Shanna poured a large amount of Magic Power into it. A ball of ice appeared above her head and rapidly grew larger. After pouring in roughly half of her Magic Power, Shanna swung her Wand downward.

"Flock of Flying Birds!"

Countless Ice Birds split off from the huge ball of ice and carpet-bombed the surrounding area. For a time, violent explosions echoed endlessly through the mountains.

Some animals that were farther away swiftly abandoned their nests and fled deeper into the mountains. The animals that were closer, however, could only let out helpless cries. The luckier ones shivered uncontrollably amid the scattered icy mist, while the less fortunate ones were blasted apart by the Ice Birds, leaving no intact corpses behind.

Looking at the devastated surroundings—the snapped trees, mutilated corpses, and shattered ground—Little Shanna felt some regret. Had she gone too far? Listening to the cries of the animals that had barely survived, Little Shanna could feel the fear and sorrow in their hearts.

The little girl felt upset. She waved her Wand and dispersed the icy mist created by her earlier ice magic, allowing the temperature to become warm again. Then she repaired the ground, buried the remains of the plants and animals underground, and quickly activated her Flying Shoes to leave the mountains.

She decided to bury everything that had happened today deep in her heart. She absolutely could not let anyone, especially Gege, find out.

That evening, Dad and Mom came home. To cheer her up, they had specially bought back many toys, clothes, and snacks. Shanna tried hard to make herself happy as she ate dinner and listened to Dad William tell stories about the interesting things he had encountered that day.

Shanna did not believe Dad could have encountered so many interesting things in a single day. Besides, she had seen several of those stories in books and newspapers before. Seeing Mom's expression grow darker and darker, Shanna silently lowered her head and ate, pretending she had noticed nothing.

"Oh, right, Shanna. Why don't you send your Gege a video call? At this time, he should already be back in the common room resting. Come to think of it, we still don't know which House he was sorted into. It should be Slytherin House, right? After all, everyone in our family was in Slytherin House," William suddenly said.

"...A video call?"

Shanna felt that the term sounded familiar. Where had she heard it before?

"That's right, don't you have a Personal Terminal—"

Before William could finish speaking, he saw Shanna throw down her utensils and dash out like a gust of wind.

"What's wrong with Shanna?"

William looked at his wife in confusion. He had not said anything wrong just now, had he?

Elena rolled her eyes at her husband.

"She forgot."

With that, she stood up and walked out as well, leaving behind only William with a face full of question marks.

Shanna was very angry now—angry at herself. She had actually forgotten about the Personal Terminal. Although she rarely used it, she would occasionally send a few messages to her little friends. Yet for some reason, she had felt completely out of sorts today. She had been like that during the day, and she was still like that now.

Looking at the "Communication request in progress..." display on her Personal Terminal, Shanna felt both expectant and nervous.

Finally, the call connected. The moment Gege appeared on the screen, Shanna could not help crying out.

"Gege! I missed you!"
