Song Ming worked with his usual astonishing speed. The entire marketing department had been assembled, its staffing structure finalized, and everything was proceeding just as Jin Xia had anticipated.
Jin Xia briefly skimmed their files, then said quietly, "Very good. Do you know what online marketing involves?"
"Is it... promoting our company online? Our current plan is to promote it on Weibo and other major social platforms, sharing more about how useful our software is."
The marketing director at the head of the group spoke earnestly.
After hearing them out, Jin Xia could not help letting out a long sigh. "I can tell you really have no experience with this work. Online marketing isn't anything like what you imagine."
"It isn't? Then what is it?"
Zhao Yiming sat in his chair, watching Jin Xia intently. After a moment's hesitation, he argued, "President Jin, our entire team consists of the industry's top professionals. We've spent years familiarizing ourselves with how online traffic is directed, and quite a few of us came from Taobao. No one understands traffic-driven marketing better than we do."
So what if they came from Taobao?
Resting her chin on one hand, Jin Xia sat in her chair and considered for a moment before saying quietly, "Your first priority now is to scout some handsome men and beautiful women online and sign them to our company. As for how to drive traffic, I'll tell you about that later."
When Taobao first burst onto the scene, it changed the way people traditionally paid and spent money, and pioneered the growth of online shopping.
But so what?
Everyone had to adapt to the tide of the times. Anyone who failed to keep pace with development would be left behind.
Zhao Yiming racked his brains for an hour, yet still could not understand why Jin Xia wanted to find handsome men and beautiful women.
Jin Xia rose calmly and turned to announce to everyone, "That concludes today's meeting. Allocate the work at hand according to the development plan I outlined today, and move it forward as quickly as possible."
She gathered the folders and computer on the table in front of her, then prepared to leave.
Zhao Yiming stood up, walked straight over to Jin Xia, and slowly sat down. "President Jin, forgive my ignorance, but I truly don't understand why we need handsome men and beautiful women. After all, we aren't creating a clothing brand that needs models."
"I need to build a group of top-tier internet influencers."
Jin Xia paused. Seeing Zhao Yiming's bewildered expression, she understood.
Whatever she said now would only be theory. They did not understand influencers' ability to sell products, much less the pace of development in the coming era.
She said calmly, "Just follow my instructions. You'll have the answers to everything else soon enough."
When Jin Xia left the company, Song Ming personally escorted her downstairs.
Song Ming pressed the elevator's floor button, his expression grave. "President Jin, there's something I'm not sure I should say."
"What is it?"
Jin Xia raised her delicate brows and gave him a puzzled glance.
"Given how popular the Slowhand app currently is, I feel that even if we make a similar app, we can't guarantee our active online users will reach even a tenth of theirs. Their user retention is simply too high. People ranging from teenagers to those in their sixties are all highly active on the platform."
Song Ming looked at Jin Xia in frustration, explaining what had been troubling him.
In truth, Song Ming's concerns were not unfounded. The leading companies across the major platforms were all watching Slowhand.
Everyone knew how terrifying Slowhand's traffic was. The greater reason they had held back for so long was their fear of ultimately becoming sacrifices to Slowhand.
Jin Xia was not worried at all. She smiled, a thought-provoking meaning in her eyes. "It's fine. I'm the investor, so what are you worried about? No one can avoid making mistakes, and no one can succeed right from the start."
Song Ming remained where he was, watching Jin Xia turn and leave, and could not help sinking into thought.
She was so beautiful and young, came from a wealthy family, and still managed to stay at the forefront of investment with every step. Any project Jin Xia set her sights on made a guaranteed profit.
What sort of family background could have produced such an outstanding young woman?
Jin Xia did not return directly to school. She privately asked Zhou You and learned that Wang Jian had recently returned to his home hospital. He had several urgent surgeries to perform and would not be able to return anytime soon-at least not before the end of the month.
She was anxious, but there was nothing she could do. She could hardly go to the hospital and abduct Wang Jian, could she?
Her immediate priority should be to think about her next steps.
According to her memories, the Sound Rhythm Jump app would launch sometime within the next few months.
Before the app went live, Jin Xia still needed to pour money into marketing the MCN talents signed under her, striving to make them top stars as soon as the app launched.
In the early days of the internet, nothing drew people in more than transformation videos and makeup. These categories attracted the most attention.
And makeup and minor cosmetic procedures were all part of an interconnected commercial chain, each link tied to the next.
On the way back to school, Jin Xia held her iPad and conducted a "troop inspection" on Weibo, recording all the influencer IDs she remembered, then forwarding them to the company group chat.
"These are all priority targets. Try to sign them as soon as possible."
Her fingertips tapped the phone screen as she quickly composed and sent a message.
An He suddenly slammed on the brakes, nearly startling Jin Xia into dropping her phone.
An He was usually a very reliable driver, and something like this rarely happened.
Jin Xia knitted her delicate brows slightly and looked up ahead. "What happened?"
"Th-this guy-I don't know what's wrong with him. He suddenly jumped out in front of the car. I almost hit him."
An He sucked in a cold breath and could not help muttering a curse. "Jumping out into the road like that-he's either trying to stage an accident for compensation or has a death wish!"
Jin Xia followed An He's gaze and took a closer look. Wasn't that Yan An, the reputed campus heartthrob?
What was he after, blocking her car?
She opened the door and stepped out, her gaze cold. "What do you want?"
Seeing Jin Xia get out, Yan An hurriedly jogged over in a fluster. "Jin Xia, I knew this was your car! Sure enough, I was right!"
As he spoke to Jin Xia, his eyes kept wandering over the Alphard.
After Jin Xia had sued several rumor-mongers at school, Yan An had finally come to understand his own "heart"!
He did not like Liu Yan at all. The person who had haunted his thoughts and dreams lately was Jin Xia!
Yan An looked at Jin Xia excitedly. "I've been contacting your roommates and waiting outside your dorm and classroom to catch you, but I never saw you anywhere. Today, I waited here especially so I could tell you in person. Jin Xia, I really like you!"
"You like me?"
Jin Xia narrowed her almond-shaped eyes and carefully scrutinized the boy before her.
