A ghostly blue streak of light swept across the sky.
Death Rite Birds.
Those skeletal birds flew over the battlefield in flocks, the spiritflame in their eye sockets looking especially eerie beneath the Blood Moon.
Spiritflame descended, bringing souls from other battlefields.
Godfrey was growing impatient.
Those oversized slingshots (catapults) were less effective than an axe thrown by him. Could walls built of lousy rocks possibly be harder than his fists?
Godfrey strode toward Belurat.
He carried no weapon and wore no armor, baring his upper body and its rocklike muscles.
Behind him, a vast shadow swept across the sky.
The Dragon Lord, Placidusax.
The Ancient Dragon, his vitality restored, spread his wings and blotted out the sky. His two remaining heads rose high, dazzling golden light shining deep within his throats.
"Placidusax's Ruin."
Two beams of golden light erupted at once, like two enormous swords piercing heaven and earth, and slashed savagely at Belurat's walls.
Everything in their path turned to dust.
Godfrey complained, "If you finish them all, what am I supposed to fight? Leave some for me."
He hurried into the breach, trying to steal kills from the Dragon Lord.
A Horned Warrior came to meet him, swinging an enormous curved greatsword.
Godfrey raised a hand and caught the sword, applying just a little pressure.
The thoroughly tempered curved greatsword broke into several pieces in his hand.
The Divine Beast Warrior looked down at the broken sword in his hand. Before he could react, Godfrey punched him in the chest.
A great hole opened in his chest, and he flew backward like a rag doll, crashing into the ruined wall. His entire body became embedded in it, serving as a new decoration.
Godfrey tossed aside the sword fragments in his hand and walked toward his next target.
