  • The player killed the overseer, but the workers continued working, then crossed the factory to meet its owner, Hassan.
  • Hassan claimed his factory created jobs for workers whose labor had become meaningless as machines replaced work.
  • When the player challenged his motives, Hassan admitted he wanted workers to have children so he could profit from their families.
  • Hassan complained that the immortal workers had stopped wanting children, and the player became furious.

Ch. 345if,88 The cruelty of survival of the fittest

  • Morgott revealed that the Frenzied Flame had spread to his true body and asked the player to change the world before he succumbed.
  • Morgott broke the seal, revealing Abundance Forest engulfed in Frenzied Flame, then walked into the burning land as a golden fog gate appeared.

Ch. 351If: Brothers killing each other was love, too

  • The player entered Morgott's arena with Tracker and Millicent summoned, then attacked while Morgott struggled to suppress himself.
  • As Morgott lost control and the Frenzied Flame consumed him, the player used Mohg's Heart to trigger a backlash that damaged him and created openings for critical attacks.
  • With a third of his health remaining, Morgott stabbed himself with his Cursed Blade and fused his body with scattered machinery, becoming Beelzebub, the Foolish.
  • The player, Tracker, Millicent, and Tear fought Beelzebub through his machinery and Frenzied Flame attacks until they defeated him.

Ch. 353If: Vyke's story

Miquella sent the player to rescue Melina from Messmer at Mt. Gelmir, but the player first completed Vyke’s request to gather glintstones. After hearing Vyke’s account of losing the witch he loved, the player learned that his hesitation over choosing a god had cost him everything.

  • After exploring deeper into the castle, the player finally encountered an NPC.

Ch. 356If, Messmer

The Tarnished met Messmer, who refused to let them take Melina, and Sellen explained the prophecy and his distrust. After Messmer killed the Tarnished in one strike, they consulted a guide, equipped the Large Melina Doll, and showed it to Bernahl, acquiring a gesture.

  • The Tarnished bought incantations and Ashes of War from Bernahl, then found Messmer arguing with Sellen over the price of dolls.
  • Messmer threatened the Tarnished and refused to let them take Melina, while Sellen led her apprentice away and explained the prophecy that Melina would die as the kindling maiden.

  • After respawning, the Tarnished consulted a guide and equipped the Large Melina Doll.
  • The Tarnished showed the doll to Bernahl, who displayed his own and granted the gesture [Show Off Doll].

Ch. 357If: Show Off Doll

The player obtained Messmer’s and the God-Devouring Great Serpent’s shed skins and had Old Enia turn them into a shield designed to withstand flames. After finding Melina hidden in Messmer’s shifting maze, the player learned that she intended to fulfill her fate while asking them to defeat her brother.

  • The player used [Show Off Doll] to open a secret passage, entered a room full of Melina dolls, and took [Messmer's Serpent Shed Skin].
  • At Volcano Cave, Adam sacrificed himself to free the God-Devouring Great Serpent, and the player defeated the serpent and collected its shed skin.
  • The player handed the shed skins to Old Enia, who crafted [Serpent-Skin Fire Shield] and its Ash of War, [O Flame, Temper My Body].
  • The player used Little Bull-Goat to find a hidden wall and navigate Messmer’s shifting, disorienting maze.
  • The player found Melina having tea beside Trina’s flower and received the Dagger of Calling.

The player defeated Messmer with help from Yhorm, Vyke, and the Mimic Tear, while Messmer escaped the arena in a blaze and headed toward the Mountaintops of the Giants. Ch. 359If: stats, then mechanics, then stats and mechanics

After learning of Vyke’s death, Bernahl gave the player the Devourer’s Scepter, and the player crossed the burning road to confront Messmer at the Mountaintops of the Giants. Messmer’s second phase transformed him into a nearly invulnerable Seraphim, leaving the player with only a brief parry window and an apparent requirement to win without taking a hit.

  • The player told Bernahl that Vyke was dead, and Bernahl gave them the Devourer’s Scepter as a token of remembrance.
  • The player crossed the flame road, reached the Mountaintops of the Giants through a portal, and entered the fog gate to face Messmer.
  • Messmer attacked alongside the Fell God of Fire, and the player used the Serpent-Skin Fire Shield to absorb his full-screen fire attack before defeating his first health bar.
  • Messmer transformed into the Serpent of Fire, stole the Fell God’s flames and power, and became immune to ordinary attacks.
  • The player found that only blocking and parrying Messmer’s brief descents could deal damage, while his attacks killed in one hit.

Ch. 360If, the prophecy finally fulfilled
