Just a shield?
To hold off the Heaven-Reaching Tree while Shane prepared for the battle ahead?
"Damn you! God will not be insulted!"
Imu flew into a rage, wishing she could draw her sword and slash at Shane.
"Shut up!"
Shane gave her no further chance, merely flicking a finger.
All the Imus charged reluctantly toward the Heaven-Reaching Tree.
Though she hated the Heaven-Reaching Tree, Imu knew this was all Shane's fault.
Normally, Joy Boy would have had only one way to deal with her: using Nika's traits to bring together the power of the people.
Of course, the ultimate outcome would have been that Imu would very likely die, while Joy Boy's path as a powerful fighter would also come to an end.
After all, Imu wanted immortality and to devour more power, but Joy Boy would still return the power after borrowing it.
Then a monster like Shane could never have emerged.
But a thief even greedier than Imu had been born, and from then on, Imu's path had become especially difficult. She had even been abandoned by the Heaven-Reaching Tree, and now she had become Shane's ace enforcer.
"Stop regretting it over there. Didn't you think before that becoming your slave and gaining immortality was the greatest blessing?"
"Well, now I've given you a possible form of immortality too. As long as I summon you once every few decades, that counts as immortality for you, doesn't it?"
"Of course, if I encounter a stronger life-form someday, you'll lose your chance to appear."
Shane's words were not particularly cruel. They merely replicated what Imu had done before.
"You're truly vile!"
Imu complained as she charged toward the Heaven-Reaching Tree on a one-way trip.
Shane really was a devil!
It was fortunate he had not been born 800 Years
