Annie had no intention of delving further into the argument over whether Sparu was suspicious.
Without evidence, there was no way they could take direct action against a Legendary.
Even if everyone harbored that suspicion, they still could not.
So there was no point in continuing the argument.
All they could do was maintain a certain vigilance toward Sparu going forward.
The priority now was whether any of the other four newly joined Legendaries were also suspect!
If there were, that would be the greatest danger.
The good news, however, was that these six people could not possibly all be compromised.
In fact, most of them were not.
Otherwise, they could have simply joined the navy and completely suppressed Atlantis.
Moreover, Finis's death further confirmed this.
And there was Yale, whose questioning had all but established that Sparu was suspect.
Over the following months, the war continued, but the Legendaries never took action again.
The armies on both sides fought a tug-of-war over the islands along the sea routes on either side.
During this period, each side had another two Legendary Battleships sunk!
But even so, the United Navy's Legendaries showed no intention of taking action.
This gave Annie a considerable headache.
The war had now lasted almost a year, and throughout that year, no vessels other than the two sides' warships had passed through the entire sea route.
Taxes from the sea route were the Atlantis Empire's single largest source of revenue.
In other words, the Atlantis Empire had now lost the vast majority of its revenue for an entire year.
Although the Atlantis Empire had previously earned substantial revenue, it was newly established and had many expenses. There was hardly any money saved in its treasury now.
And as everyone knew, fighting a war meant spending money.
