Issho held the pill in his hand, hesitating for a moment.
He had blinded himself because there were too many things in this world he could not bear to look at.
Ling'er walked over to Issho. "Mr. Issho, what are you hesitating about?"
He was very fond of Ling'er too. The girl was mischievous and clever, and she would come out with memorable lines every so often.
Ling'er was also the darling of the entire Pirate Crew.
"Hehe, I haven't been able to see for well over ten years. I wonder if I'll have trouble adjusting once my sight returns."
That was what Issho said aloud.
Ling'er tilted her head. "Is that how it works? Can't you just close your eyes for a while and open them again? Like waking up from a nap."
She simply thought Issho was worried about adjusting to a world with light.
Issho murmured, "Like waking up from a nap?"
His eyelids shifted slightly, revealing the whites of his eyes.
He remembered Lott telling him that the filth in the world would not disappear just because he closed his eyes.
Lott had said he was only fooling himself.
He tightened his grip on the white pill.
Whew...
With a long sigh, he tossed the pill into his mouth.
The white pill dissolved in his mouth, turning into streams of warmth that flowed toward his eyes.
His eye sockets felt itchy, as though something were growing out of their hollow depths.
It took quite a while for that strange sensation to gradually fade.
He kept his eyes tightly shut, not daring to open them.
Ling'er watched Issho curiously, wondering whether his eyes had grown back.
Robin and the others looked expectant too.
Even Lott, standing at the bow, could not help turning to look at Issho.
