Background / History

Huo Yuhao was born to Huo Yun'er, the White Tiger Duke's senior personal maid, and Duke Dai Hao. His mother had grown up alongside the duke and developed feelings for him. Dai Hao's prolonged military absences, combined with the duchess's concealment of the pregnancy, left him unaware that Huo Yuhao existed 1.

Although mother and son initially received a small courtyard, the duchess regarded them as a threat to her own children's prospects. After Dai Hao departed for war, she falsely claimed that Huo Yun'er carried a contagious illness, moved them into a woodshed behind the servants' quarters, and cut off their income. Huo Yuhao was two years old when this treatment began. Years of deprivation ruined his mother's health, and she eventually died of illness 1.
