Background / History

Origin and the Search for Destiny

Tang Yin is an avatar of Tang San rather than an independent reincarnation. The God of Destruction had already dispersed the divine power within Tang San’s divided consciousness; the surviving fragment manifested as a young Blue Silver Grass genius. World Consciousness subsequently blocked direct contact with his main body, forcing him to investigate the Child of Destiny through mortal encounters 1 8.

He eagerly joined Tang Ya’s declining Tang Sect, intending both to restore its influence and to use it in his search. Tang Ya gave him Twenty-Four Moonlit Bridges and the sect’s examination-free Shrek Academy admission slot. He initially dismissed Huo Yuhao as a possible Child of Destiny and supported recruiting him merely to watch over the sect’s empty base 2.

At Shrek, Tang Yin became Wang Dong’s roommate and recognized that half of Xiao Qi’s soul inhabited her body. He treated Wang Dong as a temporary holder rather than as his daughter and sought to use her connection with the Child of Destiny 5 124. After investigating several talented students, he concluded that Meng Hongchen was the person he sought and began planning to bring her together with Xiao Qi 8 38.

Freshman Assessment and Shrek Patronage

Tang Yin’s hidden-weapon barrage initially obstructed Wang Dong and Xiao Xiao during the freshman assessment final. After Dai Huabin defeated both teammates, Tang Yin used poisoned Dragon Whisker Needles and evasive footwork against the Hell White Tiger until his team won. Despite that victory, Shrek excluded him from its approved core disciples 10.

His subsequent soul hunt kept him away for two months. He returned with the Eight Spider Lances, explaining that Tang Sect Secret Skills had enabled him to kill over ten thousand Man Faced Demon Spiders. Yan Shaozhe then accepted him as his final disciple and arranged for him to absorb Ma Xiaotao’s Evil Fire 30 31 32.

During Reserve Team selection, Tang Yin drained fellow students’ Soul Power and life force to sustain himself. Fan Yu and Wang Yan questioned his methods, but Xuan Zi defended them as permitted and orthodox. Tang Yin secured a Reserve Team position 44.

Tournament Rise and the Failed Fourth-Ring Hunt

With Shrek’s Main Team injured, Tang Yin raised his cultivation from rank 36 to rank 40 overnight and led the team against Zhengtian Academy. He assigned the two-ring Xiao Xiao to delay Ye Wuqing while he attacked the opposing formation with poison and the Eight Spider Lances. Following Shrek’s victory, he publicly recruited for the Tang Sect and announced his intention to obtain a ten-thousand-year fourth ring 57 60 61 64.

The hunt instead ended in a disaster shaped by Huo Yuhao’s Quill of Alzuhod. A meteor shower struck Black Rock Ridge, and Xuan Zi threw Tang Yin away from the impact. A Ten-Year Solitary Bamboo sacrificed itself to him, while a nearby Wind Baboon torso bone fused into his body and reduced him to rank 39 67 68 69.

Tang Yin concealed his altered torso and white fourth ring beneath a cloak. Black Rock Military Academy eventually forced him to reveal Blue Silver Pole Vault. After winning, he falsely claimed that the ring was not ten-year and that its skill possessed spiritual intimidation 73 85 86.

Defeat and Recovery

For the finals, Tang Yin promoted Evil Fire as a source of strength and offered teammates a pill made from hundreds of medicines and poisons. Privately, he intended to use their eventual need for treatment to recruit them into the Tang Sect 78 105.

Meng Hongchen froze his poisonous mist and struck him with Ultimate Ice. Tang Yin attempted to escape with Blue Silver Pole Vault, but Huo Yuhao shot him in midair, breaking his lumbar spine. He required a wheelchair afterward and blamed Huo Yuhao for crippling him, secretly resolving to kill him 109 110 111 115.

Xuan Zi later took him into the Star Dou Great Forest to seek vitality-rich soul beasts. Tang Yin replaced his fourth ring, reached rank 45 through devouring, and ate two Emerald Swan eggs to aid recovery. He also considered obtaining the Auspicious Beast’s fortune for Xiao Qi and Meng Hongchen 122.

By Chapter 124, Tang Yin had recovered from paralysis. He demanded money and Tang Sect membership before permanently resolving his teammates’ Evil Fire. A newspaper report about a planned search of Sunset Forest then drove him to hurry toward the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, whose immortal herbs were central to his plans for personal advancement and sect recruitment 124.

Appearance

  • Usual bearing: Initially wears luxurious clothing associated with Star Luo nobility and presents a serene, refined manner 1.
  • Academy clothing: Wears Shrek’s dark green school uniform during tournament competition 61.
  • Eyes: Purple light appears when he uses Purple Demon Eye 62 124.
  • External soul bone: The Eight Spider Lances extend from his back, giving him a humanoid Man Faced Demon Spider silhouette when deployed 85.
  • Temporary deformity: The Wind Baboon torso bone leaves his torso misshapen and somewhat baboon-like; he conceals it with a specially made cloak 68 73.
  • Tournament injuries: A broken lumbar spine leaves his lower body limp. He remains wheelchair-dependent in Chapter 122 but has recovered from paralysis by Chapter 124 110 122 124.

Personality

Tang Yin is intensely proud of Tang San’s legacy and assumes that his old techniques should remain decisive ten thousand years later. When Dai Huabin counters his ordinary hidden weapons, he reacts with disbelief and anger. He repeatedly dismisses soul tools as inferior external aids while defending Tang Sect hidden weapons as fundamentally different 8 10 37 50.

His devotion to the Tang Sect is genuine but controlling. He wants talented recruits, resources, and influence under the sect’s authority, and regards disagreement as disloyalty. Bei Bei’s resistance to Evil Fire and support for soul tools lead Tang Yin to privately plan to cripple and expel him once he becomes sect leader 90 105.

His courteous public manner often conceals resentment or calculation. While claiming not to hold grudges, he plans to exploit teammates’ poisoning and Evil Fire dependence to secure their membership. He likewise describes devoured soul beasts as evil and their stolen power as a justified reward 105 122 124.

Tang Yin strongly identifies with Shrek’s prestige and readily praises authority figures who support him. He condemns demands for practical benefits from the Inner Court, yet resents Shrek’s system when it denies him core-disciple status 10 49.

Abilities & Skills

Martial Souls and Soul Skills

Martial Soul / Skill Documented Use Limits or Status
Blue Silver Grass Uses Blue Silver Entanglement, Parasitism, and Spider Web Restraint for ranged control 85. Uses weakened versions while concealing his rings. He considers it practically useless against Meng Hongchen’s powerful ice attribute 85 90.
Blue Silver Pole Vault Former fourth skill; summons a green bamboo pole for vaulting. Launches him more than twenty meters upward during the finals 85 109. Comes from a genuine ten-year ring. His claim that it carries spiritual intimidation is unsupported; he later removes the ring 86 122.
Blue Silver Cage Replacement fourth skill from a Ten-Thousand-Year Cave Demon Spider; raises multiple Blue Silver Grass cages for group control 122. Tang Yin anticipates combining it with Ice-Fire Immunity, but has not yet regained that protection 90 122.
Clear Sky Hammer Retained as an unrevealed trump card alongside Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer 105. Not deployed in the documented battles 105 109.
  • Blue Silver Emperor awakening: Remains a goal, not an achieved transformation. Tang Yin searches unsuccessfully for a Blue Silver Emperor that could awaken his martial soul and sacrifice itself as his fifth ring 122.
  • Ice-Fire Immunity: Belongs to his remembered achievements from ten thousand years earlier. This avatar intends to acquire it at the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well 90.

Eight Spider Lances

  • Converts absorbed energy to replenish his strength during battle 32 44.

  • Absorbs Ma Xiaotao’s Evil Fire, allowing her brief periods of full-strength combat 44.
  • Supports locomotion even when his lower body is paralyzed 122.
  • One lance tip is deliberately broken off and thrown during his fight with Meng Hongchen; seven lances are subsequently described 109 122.

Tang Sect Secret Arts and Hidden Weapons

  • Purple Demon Eye: Provides exceptional eyesight and aids his resistance to mental attacks. It allows him to observe details that ordinary spectators miss 2 62 78.
  • Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track: Evasive footwork used to prolong combat against stronger opponents and maneuver with the Eight Spider Lances 10 44.
  • Mysterious Jade Hands: Used during rapid hidden-weapon throwing 10.
  • Hidden-weapon techniques: Employs hand-thrown projectiles, poisoned needles, and mechanism-operated weapons 10.
  • Tournament restriction: Mechanical hidden weapons are forbidden, limiting the arsenal available to him in official matches 49 57.

  • Releases both visible poisonous mist and colorless, odorless gas 85 109.
  • Refines tournament poisons intended for Soul Kings and Soul Emperors 61.
  • Produces a pill from hundreds of medicines and poisons, presenting it as protection against Meng Hongchen’s toxin 105.
  • Counter: Meng Hongchen’s Eternal Frozen Domain freezes his poisonous mist before it can affect her 109.

Divine Slaughter’s Domain

  • Releases overwhelming killing intent that stuns an opposing Soul King and creates an opening for the Eight Spider Lances 74.
  • Weakens opponents while strengthening Tang Yin within its area 74.
  • Identified by the Ice Empress as a special domain skill requiring no soul-ring or soul-bone vessel 74.

Energy Absorption and Evil Fire

  • Blue Silver Secret Art: Raises him from rank 36 to rank 40 overnight. Tang Yin publicly calls it an innate martial-soul trait 57 60.
  • Corpse-derived energy: His cultivation includes absorbing energy from corpses; that contamination makes Yu Mengdi’s Angel Martial Soul especially effective against him 63 73.
  • Evil Fire enhancement: Uses absorbed Evil Fire to increase cultivation and distributes it to teammates 90 92 105.
  • Addiction: Develops cravings after repeatedly absorbing Ma Xiaotao’s Evil Fire 49.
  • Proposed remedy: Plans to use immortal herbs to neutralize his own Evil Fire and permanently treat affected teammates 90 124.

Ring Detonation

  • Knows Ring Detonation before the finals but does not use it during his defeat 105 109.
  • Can destroy an unwanted soul ring through repeated detonations rather than a single attempt 73.
  • Initially lacks the physical recovery needed to remove his white ring before the tournament ends 73.
  • Successfully removes it during his later Star Dou Great Forest expedition 122.

Equipment / Weapons / Items
