Snow had fallen outside all night, blanketing the rooftops of New Capital in white silence. Inside the hall, the fire blazed, the occasional crackle of burning wood especially clear in the warm room. Kaguya leaned against the headboard, her silver-white hair spilling across the pillow. Her face still bore the exhaustion of childbirth, but her eyes were full of light. In her arms lay a newborn baby-silver-white downy hair, fair skin, eyes tightly shut, tiny fists held beside her mouth. The baby was quiet, not crying, only sleeping.
Toyotomi Yinglang sat beside the bed, holding a cup of hot tea, a faint smile on his lips. He watched the baby with a calm gaze, as though looking at a newly finished work.
"Toyotomi Tsukihime," he said. "Yueji means 'princess of the moon.' May she be as radiant as the moon and as brilliant as the stars."
Kaguya lowered her head, looking at the baby in her arms. "Yueji... a good name."
