At that moment, nominations and elections for the Sages of Rtawahist, Amurta, and Kshahrewar were underway in the House of Daena. The candidates from those three Darshans were arguing red-faced over the positions.
Strangely, however, no one was competing for the position of Sage of Haravatat. The reason was simple: Haravatat had a guardian beast named Alhaitham.
As the brains of the team that had rescued their god, Alhaitham had made the greatest contribution to bringing down Azar and his accomplices. His contribution was so immense that everyone had willingly yielded the position of Great Sage to him.
Indeed, it was not just the position of Sage of Haravatat. Everyone, including Lesser Lord Kusanali, believed that the position of Great Sage belonged to Alhaitham alone.
Strangely, however, Alhaitham seemed to have no interest in becoming Great Sage and firmly declined. Everyone present merely assumed he was following the customary routine of repeated refusals and offers: Alhaitham needed to decline the appointment twice before reluctantly accepting on the third offer.
However, with Sumeru currently in turmoil and urgently needing someone capable of managing the overall situation, Lesser Lord Kusanali did not give Alhaitham many chances to refuse. She directly announced his appointment as Acting Great Sage, putting him in charge of major affairs within the Akademiya.
Alhaitham could only reluctantly accept. This display made quite a few of those present grit their teeth with envy. After all, as long as he could restore stability to Sumeru during his acting tenure, the word "acting" could easily be removed, making him the official Great Sage.
While no one contested the position of Sage of Haravatat, the positions of Sage in the other three Darshans were being fought over viciously. Apart from those, the deputy positions under the Sages of Amurta and Vahumana were
