Once Jian Ran left, Gu Feng dropped his mask completely.
The ingratiating expression vanished from his refined, handsome face, replaced by cunning and malice. He slammed a fist onto his desk and gritted his teeth. "What kind of spell did Lu Yanting cast on him?!"
"He even managed to get someone that difficult wrapped around his finger?!"
"If I'd known Jian Ran was so capable, I should've made my move sooner..."
Before he could finish muttering to himself, his phone suddenly rang. Gu Feng lowered his eyes, and the words on the screen put him in a difficult position.
But he didn't dare refuse the call.
"Grandma, did you need something? I'm busy working."
"Busy, my foot! Where's the person I told you to find? Is he coming over to visit us or not?"
Gu Feng rubbed between his brows in irritation, but his voice remained coaxing. "Oh, come on, Jian Ran's an A-list celebrity now. How would he have any time?"
"Don't try to fool me. That old man Lu was just showing off to me, saying Jian Ran was going to his house for dinner, that his grandson had really done him proud, and that they'd be celebrating a wedding before long."
Gu Feng's eyes widened. "Old Master Lu really said that?"
"Of course! Would your grandma lie to you?! You're such a disappointment. You can't even keep hold of an artist signed to your own company? Our Gu Family really gets worse with every generation!"
The voice on the phone cut off abruptly. Knowing his grandmother's explosive temper, Gu Feng figured she had hung up.
He slumped back into his executive chair and stared blankly at the ceiling. "Yeah, he's an artist under my own management. How come I couldn't keep hold of him?"
