Power Progression
The documented progression below follows Tang Zhixue’s Blazing Sun Shelter.
| Stage / Realm / Level | Chapter | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 — Creation | 6 | A Tier 1 Shelter Crystal repairs and transforms Tang Zhixue’s crude cabin, unlocks regional trading, and provides a shelter panel. He names it Blazing Sun. |
| Level 1 — Reward expansion | 9 | Blue Star rewards Tang Zhixue for successfully learning martial arts. The shelter expands to approximately 25 m², gains a Martial Arts Space, and has its firepit converted into a fireplace. |
| Level 2 | 26 | Requires 100 stored energy and 50 Clear Spirit Wood. The shelter becomes an approximately 200 m² wooden house with three rooms and a main hall. It gains Clear Spirit Evil-Repelling, and its energy counter resets to 0/1,000. |
| Level 3 | 48 49 | Requires 1,000 stored energy and 100 Spirit Clarity Tree trunks, each ten meters long. The transformation encompasses the surrounding Clear Spirit Tree Wall. The resulting shelter has two floors, expanded facilities, and Spirit Clarity Tranquility; its energy counter resets to 0/10,000. |
Creation and Upgrading
Shelter Crystals
- A Tier 1 Shelter Crystal can transform an area ten meters in diameter into an exclusively personal shelter. Tang Zhixue finds his crystal in a treasure chest 6.
- Activating it sends the crystal into the ground and envelops the cabin in blue light. Tang Zhixue is pushed outside while the building is repaired and refurnished 6.
- The initial transformation adds wooden flooring, a single bed, an improved table, a stool, and a trading chest 6.
- Tang Zhixue’s explanation of Shelter Crystals and trading prompts other regional survivors to search for treasure chests and convert their cabins 6 7.
Energy and Materials
| Mechanic | Documented behavior |
|---|---|
| Energy from uncanny entities | A First Tier wraith dissipating near Blazing Sun provides 1 energy. Destroying the bloated-corpse creature later raises its reserves from 0 to 10 11 38. |
| Energy from crystals | A Wood Spiritual Energy Crystal produced by a Jade Flower supplies 50 energy. Tang Zhixue later uses twenty Jade Flower-produced crystals to replenish 1,000 energy 16 43. |
| Upgrade eligibility | Filling the energy counter unlocks material requirements; energy alone does not complete an upgrade 16 22. |
| Material limits | At Level 1’s full energy, the panel permits only ordinary materials. At Level 2’s full energy, it permits materials no higher than the second tier 16 44. |
| Advance material collection | The shelter can absorb designated upgrade materials before all requirements are met. Blue light collects the trunks, and the panel tracks the accumulated quantity 22 23. |
| Material-dependent effects | Clear Spirit Wood grants Clear Spirit Evil-Repelling; Spirit Clarity Wood adds Spirit Clarity Tranquility. Tang Zhixue advises others that special materials can give shelters special effects 26 49 50. |
| Further advancement | Blazing Sun needs 10,000 energy toward its next upgrade after reaching Level 3; no subsequent upgrade is documented 50. |
Layout and Facilities
Structural Changes
| Version | Appearance and Layout |
|---|---|
| Initial Level 1 | A repaired wooden cabin with a single bed, table, stool, and trading chest. Its bed has no bedding 6. |
| Expanded Level 1 | Approximately 25 m², with a fireplace and a separate wooden doorway leading into the Martial Arts Space 9. |
| Level 2 | Approximately 200 m², with dark green patterns on its exterior wood. The windowless interior contains a main hall, a bedroom on the left, a planting room on the right, and a storage room behind the fireplace 26. |
| Level 3 | Reached by vine stairs woven along a stout trunk. Its interior is larger than it appears from outside. The lower floor contains a bright hall of at least 100 m², Spirit Clarity Wood flooring, built-in shelves, a northern window, and a fireplace three times its previous size. The upper floor contains a bedroom, storeroom, and forge 49. |
Trading Chest
The trading chest enables regional trading from the shelter 6.
- Items placed inside can be assigned a price, but cannot be retrieved by their seller afterward 6.
- Purchased goods and proceeds from sales can be taken out 6.
- Tang Zhixue’s first listing is a smashed Ember Ash Snake head, priced at a stone weighing one jin 6.
Martial Arts Space
The Martial Arts Space is a special training facility created when Blue Star detects a nearby Tier 1 Void Nether Stone during Tang Zhixue’s martial-arts reward 9.
- Initially has an internal volume of 100 m³ 9.
- Supports a maximum internal-to-external time ratio of 6:1 and slightly improves martial-arts comprehension 9.
- Time acceleration consumes shelter energy. Tang Zhixue discovers that 100 energy lasts only one hour at the 6:1 ratio 36 37.
- Its interior area barely changes when Blazing Sun reaches Level 3 49.
Planting Cottage
Tang Zhixue creates the Planting Cottage by using a Building Card in the room containing his Planting Box 29.
- Initially provides 50 m² of indoor planting space 29.
- Absorbs free energy from outside to rapidly replenish soil fertility, addressing the depletion caused by accelerated plant growth 17 29.
- Allows cultivation inside the shelter rather than exposing plants directly to the Silent White Fog 29.
- Expands to nearly 100 m² at Level 3 49.
Other Facilities
- Fireplace — Created from the original firepit as a Blue Star reward; enlarged threefold at Level 3 9 49.
- Additional room — A First Tier Room Expansion Card creates a room beyond the corridor between the bedroom and storeroom 31.
- Forge — In use by the time Tang Zhixue begins forging golden-pattern iron; located upstairs after the Level 3 upgrade 37 49.
- Modern Toilet — Added through a Building Card gifted by Biting Spring Granny. It appears on the shelter panel despite Tang Zhixue initially noticing no visible change 47.
- Ritual altar — Tang Zhixue’s makeshift altar is positioned against the northern wall at Level 2 and beneath the hall’s northern window at Level 3 34 49.
- Lighting plant — Present after the Level 3 upgrade; its name is not given in Tang Zhixue’s explanation to the regional chat 50.
Protective Effects
Door God Protection · First Tier
Door God portraits placed on the main entrance grant nighttime protection against weird creatures of the first tier and below entering the home 37.
- Protects Tang Zhixue when a First Tier wraith approaches his shelter 11.
- Cannot repel the Year Wraith announced during the Spring Festival event 11.
- Remains listed even after the entrance is damaged, but has disappeared by Chapter 44. Tang Zhixue does not establish why it stopped working 44.
Purification · Temporary
Reciting the Pure Heaven and Earth Divine Mantra grants the shelter a temporary effect that disperses dark energy, slays evil and uncanny entities, and purifies the spiritual energy of heaven and earth 12 20.
| Documented Stage | Duration | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Early documented effect | 1 hour | Must be renewed through further recitation 20. |
| After the mantra reaches Master level | 12 hours | Long enough for Tang Zhixue to maintain protection through an ordinary night’s sleep 42. |
- Expiration allows the Silent White Fog to engulf the shelter and corrupt exposed plants nearby 19 20.
- Renewing the effect does not always immediately end existing Weird Erosion; the bloated-corpse creature continues threatening Blazing Sun after Purification returns 38.
- Reaching Level 3 does not itself expand the purification range. Tang Zhixue attributes the effect mainly to the mantra and recommends practicing it 50.
Clear Spirit Evil-Repelling
Acquired through Blazing Sun’s Clear Spirit Wood upgrade materials 26.
- Resists mental erosion from First Tier uncanny entities while inside the shelter 26 37.
- Provides a small increase in comprehension 26.
- Does not prevent the shelter from undergoing Weird Erosion when its other defenses prove insufficient 37.
Spirit Clarity Tranquility
Added at Level 3 through the use of Spirit Clarity Tree materials 49.
- Improves concentration and clarity of thought within the shelter’s bounds 49.
- Gives a small bonus to comprehension speed and memory during study, reading, and research 49.
- Occasionally produces “sudden inspiration,” greatly increasing comprehension for a short time 49.
Clear Spirit Tree Wall
Tang Zhixue grows and fuses Clear Spirit Trees around Blazing Sun to create a living defensive barrier 41 44 48.
- Classified as a Second Tier mutated plant, capable of resisting encroachment by supernatural entities and evil beings of the second tier and below 48.
- Its interwoven trunks and branches reach approximately four meters high before the Level 3 upgrade 48.
- The wall is engulfed along with the shelter during that upgrade 48.
Major Incidents and Limitations
- Loss of outdoor crops: While Tang Zhixue explores ruins, Purification expires. Nearby special plants turn gray and attack him with gas; after he renews the effect, he finds them reduced to ash 19 20.
- Junweng blockade: Junweng cannot enter the shelter’s area of influence, allowing Tang Zhixue to retreat inside. However, it returns his fired arrows, forcing him to seek an incantation-based attack instead 33 34.
- Weird Erosion: Absorbed in forging, Tang Zhixue forgets to renew Purification. A bloated-corpse creature approaches, and the panel explicitly marks Blazing Sun as undergoing Weird Erosion. The status clears only after he destroys the creature with Purification Golden-Pattern Iron 37 38.
- Physical damage: The creature leaves a large hole in the entrance. Finding no quick-repair option on the panel, Tang Zhixue cuts logs to block it and develops the living tree defenses 39 41.
- Upgrade as repair: Tang Zhixue later tells the regional chat that repairing the broken entrance was his reason for urgently pursuing the Level 3 upgrade 50.
- Information range: Most item descriptions are available only within the shelter’s range, although dropped Supply Cards can be inspected where they fall. After reaching Level 2, Tang Zhixue can also open the shelter panel while outside the building 26 27.
