The defenders on the city wall were utterly dumbstruck. They stared at the forest that had appeared out of thin air, at the demonic beasts struggling and roaring in the forest sea yet unable to move, and at the tiny figure standing at its center with his palms pressed together.
A young Awakened who had come from a neighboring city to help stammered a question to Zhou Yan beside him. "I-is that guy from your Jiangcheng?"
Zhou Yan grinned. "Of course. He's my brother."
"Your brother?" The young Awakened swallowed. "He's so strong. How many has he killed all by himself?"
Zhou Yan glanced at the battlefield outside the wall, now covered by the forest sea, made a rough estimate, and gave a number that made everyone around him gasp. "Probably close to ten thousand."
Lin Jin stood at the center of the forest sea, surrounded by demonic beast corpses piled into small mountains.
The gap the Saber-toothed Thunder Tiger had torn open on the left flank was filled again by the demonic beasts pouring in behind it. In the blink of an eye, the area that had just been cleared was covered by a dark mass of beasts once more.
By his rough estimate, he had killed at least several thousand demonic beasts since he began fighting, but the beast tide numbered at least tens of thousands. If he kept killing at this rate, they might choose to retreat out of fear before he could clear them all out.
"Still too inefficient," he muttered, forming hand seals.
"Sage Mode."
Natural energy poured into his body like rivers flowing into the sea. Deep crimson markings appeared beneath his eyes, and a circular mark emerged on his forehead.
He took a deep breath and gathered chakra in his palm.
