The sword net spread far and wide. However sharp and closely woven those threadlike strands of sword intent were, they could not stop all the seawater.
The sea no longer fell with its former terrifying force, but it was like a wet towel being wrung ever tighter: it looked almost dry, yet water kept dripping from it.
What needed to be done next was to lay stones, sand, and the like over this invisible sword net, which spanned dozens of miles, then bind them into solid masses with formations or talisman runes-in effect, rebuilding a layer of the earth's crust at the bottom of the Great Whirlpool.
The Giant Ancestor was responsible for dredging the passage between heaven and earth, so naturally he was skilled at this sort of thing as well. Half-kneeling in the sea, he kept digging out great masses of rock and sand from behind him, then carefully placing them atop the sword net. From afar, he looked like a great mountain on the sea, yet one that swayed incessantly in the wind.
His palms were enormous; a single handful of rock made a small mountain. At this rate, perhaps it would not take long to block the passage through which the sea entered the Netherworld. The problem was that the rocks on the seabed were limited. Before he had dug for very long, he reached the bottom and nearly made another hole, leaving him no choice but to choose another place.
Dusk deepened. The Giant moved slowly across the sea, stirring up countless enormous waves and digging out countless huge rocks. There was no knowing when he would finally fill the sea.
In the Netherworld, the mountain range stretching hundreds of miles blocked the seawater flowing toward the Nether River. A huge breach had opened in
