• Huang Xiao killed Tuoba Ao with Qingfeng's help, but Tuoba Ao briefly revived and inflicted the Demon-Ghost Blood Curse on him.
• Wu Longfeng killed himself, and Huang Xiao chose Li Wujing to lead the preserved Taixuan Sect with Zhuge Zheng's support.

He emerged from Mist Mountain with Minghong and met Ou Jin, then paused at the Swift Sword Inn after spotting an escort agency guarding three wagons.

• Huang Xiao killed Xiao Dalin, drove Dalhe from the Khitan army, and arranged a life-or-death duel between Dalhe and Hong Yi three years later.
• Huang Xiao treated Hong Yi and Dugu Sheng, and Great Song and the Khitan signed the Chanyuan Covenant as the Khitan army withdrew.
• Old Sun revealed that Huang Xiao's worsening Demon-Ghost Blood Curse was consuming his life force, and Huang Xiao told his loved ones he had at most a year to live.
• Old Sun died, and Huang Xiao entrusted his teachings to his four wives, who agreed to establish the Free and Easy Sect while Qingfeng stayed behind to guide them.

The Swift Sword Sect attacked the agency, and Huang Xiao intervened just as its defenders faced defeat.

• Huang Xiao reclaimed his jade pendant with Liu Yu’s help, then killed the God-Burying Hall men who pursued him and gave Ou Jin Thousand-Year Black Iron for the Minghong Saber.
