Huang Xiao and Zhao Yunhui escaped their pursuers and returned to the mainland, where the hunt for Godslayer drew several demon sects to their hiding place. After Huang Xiao killed Long Feng and the group trapped three sect leaders, Gongsun Liang arrived to demand vengeance for Ning Buli, just as another newcomer appeared.

• Huang Xiao and Zhao Yunhui escaped Cao Wuxin with Zhao Yunhui’s Bewildering Illusion Formation and reached Quanzhou, where they learned the Jianghu was searching for Huang Xiao and the Seven Spirit Blades.
• At the Six Gates branch, Pu Jie identified Huang Xiao’s dagger as Godslayer, and Huang Xiao and Zhao Yunhui set out toward Kaifeng as factions pursued them.
• Huang Xiao and Zhao Yunhui reunited with Zhao Xin'er and Yan Zhong, who warned that the Seven Spirit Blades had drawn hidden sects and powerful masters into the hunt.
• Zhao Yunhui and Zhao Xin'er built a courtyard defense combining a Killing Formation and mechanisms, but the Soul-Devouring Demon Sect and other factions soon surrounded them.
• Long Feng studied the formations by sacrificing attackers, so Zhao Yunhui lured him into a weakened section while Yan Zhong engaged the other leaders.
• Huang Xiao entered the formation to fight Long Feng, killed him with Godslayer, and took the Nine Scrolls of Heavenly Mechanism and Long Feng’s sword.
• Zhao Yunhui’s group used the formation and Zhao Xin'er’s Heaven-Shaking Thunders to trap Qiu Ping, Liu Fu, and Zhu Yu, while Yan Zhong fought Qiu Ping.
• Gongsun Liang arrived and demanded that Huang Xiao answer for Ning Buli’s death, but Zhao Yunhui, Zhao Xin'er, and Yan Zhong refused to abandon him before a cold voice announced another arrival.

Huang Xiao escaped Gongsun Liang with help from the Jade-Faced Rakshasa, learned that Jiang Ying had been secretly protecting him, and sought guidance at Poison God Valley before finding Green Ox Temple in ruins. On the road to Kaifeng, he rescued Liaochen from six monks and learned more about the hidden sects and the war that shattered the Jianghu.

• Yan Zhong and Jiang Ying delayed Gongsun Liang while Huang Xiao, Zhao Yunhui, and Zhao Xin'er escaped, but pursuers caught up and Zhao Xin'er used the Phoenix Feather to kill Liu Fu and trap the others in an illusion.
• Gongsun Liang took Godslayer and pursued Huang Xiao, but the Jade-Faced Rakshasa wounded him, killed Qiu Ping, and returned the blade to Huang Xiao while telling him to say she had taken it.
• Huang Xiao confronted Jiang Ying, who confirmed that Huang Xiao had an honored birth identity and that he had been assigned to protect him, but refused to reveal his parents or the person who gave the order.
• At Poison God Valley, the Patriarch warned Huang Xiao to keep the Everlasting Spring Youth-Restoring Art secret and took Godslayer, then chose to guide Huang Xiao personally.
• After a month of training, Huang Xiao returned to Green Ox Temple and found it reduced to ruins, with two skeletons and no sign of Qingfeng or Demon Slayer.
• Huang Xiao headed toward Kaifeng, heard that Liaochen was being chased by six monks, and intervened as the monks attacked the gravely wounded man.
• Huang Xiao fought the six monks to protect Liaochen until Zhu Zhentong and Hong Yi arrived, and the monks departed after threatening him.
• As Huang Xiao escorted Liaochen toward Shaolin, Liaochen explained the Six Buddhist Sects' history and revealed that the Taixuan Sect had deceived the eight Buddhist sects into fighting the Heavenly Demon Sect, weakening both sides.

Huang Xiao pursued the Yellow Gate Arrest Sage position to strengthen his search for his missing Eldest Senior Brother and defeated Mingzhong in the contest. After his promotion, he protected Xiao Qin from Tuoba Defu, while Tuoba Xing became Inspector and began planning to target Huang Xiao’s allies.

• Huang Xiao and Liaochen reached Shaolin, where Liaochen warned Masters Kongming and Kongcheng that the Six Buddhist Sects had attacked him and were returning to the Jianghu.
• Huang Xiao went to Kaifeng and learned from Zhao Yunya that he could not yet become a Retainer, but could compete against Tuoba Xing for the Yellow Gate Arrest Sage position.
• Huang Xiao publicly challenged Tuoba Xing at a tavern and gravely wounded three retainers who tried to seize him.
• Huang Qitao told Tuoba Xing that the Six Buddhist Sects would also compete, while Master Kongming and Du Ge helped Huang Xiao prepare for the contest.
• Huang Xiao defeated Monk Mingzhong by enduring the Infinite Buddha Palm and countering its third strike with the fourth layer of the Heavenly Demon Subduing Tiger Fist, then showed mercy as Mingzhong conceded.
• Huang Qitao announced Huang Xiao’s promotion to Yellow Gate Arrest Sage, and You Yidao and Zheng Zhiyi celebrated with him at the Immortal Abode.
• Huang Xiao protected Xiao Qin from Tuoba Defu, made him apologize, and warned Tuoba Dezheng not to let him harm anyone again, and Tuoba Dezheng punished his brother and rewarded Xiao Qin.
• Tuoba Xing resolved to use his new Inspector authority against Huang Xiao’s allies, while Huang Xiao faced a pile of duties at the Six Gates and learned from Du Ge that Tuoba Xing had become Inspector.

Huang Xiao went to Luoyang to support Hong Yi in the Beggar Gang leadership contest, while Tuoba Xing and Xu Wuyu’s presence revealed threats surrounding the election. Chi Si used a forbidden art to overwhelm Hong Yi, and Huang Xiao rushed to stop his attack.

• Huang Xiao learned that Hong Yi was gravely injured and the Beggar Gang was divided over its next leader, then accepted the Six Gates’ assignment to represent them at the election.
• Huang Xiao reached the Beggar Gang headquarters with his Arrest Sage Token, encouraged Hong Yi to keep pursuing the leadership and revenge, and helped him recover in secret.
• Huang Xiao confronted Tuoba Xing and Chi Tan’s attempts to undermine his authority, while the Beggar Gang chose Hong Yi and Chi Si as its leadership candidates.
• Hong Yi proposed deciding the leadership through a contest, and the elders set it for four days later as Huang Xiao helped him recover and received the gang leader’s key.
• Huang Xiao discovered Xu Wuyu meeting with Tuoba Xing and Chi Tan, then learned Xu Wuyu intended to target him and challenge Hong Yi over the Dragon-Capturing Divine Palm.
• The elders allowed candidates to select same-generation substitutes, so Chi Si chose Xu Wuyu and Hong Yi chose Huang Xiao, while Hong Yi and Chi Si began their own contest.
• Hong Yi and Chi Si fought evenly until Chi Si revealed an unfamiliar technique, then used a forbidden art to overwhelm Hong Yi and damage his meridians.
• Chi Si sent the injured Hong Yi to the edge of the arena and moved to strike his chest, prompting Huang Xiao to charge forward and shout for him to stop.
