Hou Niao's journey took him effortlessly thousands of li into the Blue Sea, deep into its heart.
The thunderclouds kept changing, but they were not as fast as he had imagined, and he could always catch the tail of the lightning.
The thunder of heaven and earth accorded with mysterious principles. It was not so simple as a cloud flying back and forth, but rather the succession and transfer of thunder's momentum through the clouds, making it seem as though the thunderclouds were moving; in truth, the clouds did not move. The momentum shifted.
He did not know where that momentum would ultimately shift to. Would it leave the Blue Sea, make a circuit through the deep sea, and then return? With his current strength, he could barely ensure his safety on the Blue Sea. In the deep sea, that would be harder to say.
But one thing was clear: the thunder's momentum would make a circuit of the Lizhi Sea, then return to the Thunder Triangle at this same season next year, completing a cycle.
The only question was how far that circuit would take it.
There was no use thinking about it. He would do his best.
The thunder's momentum moved across the Blue Sea, sometimes fast, sometimes slow. Sometimes it shifted no more than a few dozen li in a day; sometimes it suddenly covered hundreds of li in a single night. There was no fixed pattern.
At his present stage, he also found it difficult to understand the deeper reasons behind these shifts. He knew what happened without knowing why, but his intuition told him that if he kept following like this, surely he would gain something?
This was a mystery box. He did not know what he might find inside, but the process itself was
