Those words meant he already stood at the pinnacle of ordinary ninja.

The members of the Konoha Military Police Force on duty rose to their feet, hands on their sword hilts, watching these uninvited guests with extreme vigilance.

Was the village about to make its move?

There were only three of them!

Should they attack or not?

The Uchiha exchanged glances, but no one acted rashly for the moment.

Under the unblinking stares of all those eyes, Shimura Danzō felt little tension.

"Uchiha Fugaku!"

The senior elder issued an order.

"Tell Uchiha Fugaku to come out and see me!"

In Shimura Danzō's view, for someone of his standing to demand the prisoner from Uchiha Minamoto would undoubtedly be a humiliation.

Yet no one in the building moved.

Shimura Danzō was one of the village's higher-ups, but he was not one of the Uchiha's higher-ups.

The Uchiha were already hostile toward the village.

Seeing that he had come with ill intent, why would they follow his orders?

"Hmm... has Elder Shimura Danzō come to visit?"

Just then, Uchiha Minamoto walked over from the Interrogation Room at an unhurried pace.

"What are you doing coming to the Konoha Military Police Force this late at night instead of hiding away in Root?

"Have you come to turn yourself in?"

Even though Shimura Danzō did not want to speak with Uchiha Minamoto,

as he watched this wicked, innately rebellious Uchiha brat standing before him, Shimura Danzō tried to hold back.

He simply could not.

"Uchiha Minamoto!"

Shimura Danzō's voice sounded as though it had crawled out of hell, every word carrying a bone-chilling coldness.

"You have some nerve! Who gave you the authority to arrest a ninja of the Shimura Clan without authorization?"

"Shimura Ryo committed a crime. I arrested him on behalf of the Konoha Military Police Force. What exactly was wrong with that?"

Uchiha Minamoto's expression was calm, as though the man before him were not a senior elder but a deadbeat causing trouble.

"As for who gave me the authority?

"The Konoha Military Police Force, with the Hokage's express authorization, making a lawful arrest. Do you have a problem with that?"

Those words could not have been more correct.

Even Shimura Danzō could find no fault with them.

"I can't be bothered to waste words with you!"

Shimura Danzō chose to change the subject, as though he had not been the one to ask that question.

"Shimura Ryo is involved with Root's classified intelligence. Hand him over now. I'm taking him back to Root!"

"You want the prisoner? Sure!"

A faint, almost imperceptible smile tugged at Uchiha Minamoto's lips.

"Get written approval from our Commander-in-Chief, or from Lord Third Hokage.

"Clan Head Shimura, your status carries absolutely no weight before the Konoha Military Police Force!

Shimura Danzō, you don't qualify!

"You-"

Shimura Danzō's lone eye suddenly widened, and an exceedingly fierce killing intent erupted from him.

The two ninja attendants behind him also assumed fighting stances.

The members of the Konoha Military Police Force refused to back down, activating their Sharingan one after another.

"Right now, to the north, Kumogakure and Iwagakure are locked in constant warfare, while Sunagakure and Kirigakure are secretly stirring.

"The village also suffered devastating losses during the Nine-Tails' Attack and has still not recovered.

"With threats within and without, Konoha's situation is as precarious as a stack of eggs."

Uchiha Minamoto activated his Three-Tomoe Sharingan, delivering every word with a full show of solemn authority.
