The yellow utility truck came to a stop in a weed-choked parking lot on the outskirts of the Power Plant. Its doors opened, and everyone filed out. Only when they actually stood on this ground did they truly feel the oppressive weight of this steel behemoth. Beneath the overcast sky, the abandoned Power Plant resembled a silent beast from ancient times, its cold steel skeleton thrusting into the heavens, exuding an air of death and decay.
The air was thick with the smell of rust, mixed with a faint trace of ozone from high-voltage ionization. It stung their nostrils and jolted them alert.
"Everyone, follow Plan A," Apollo ordered through his tactical headset, keeping his voice low. "Split into teams and perform 'maintenance' on the external transmission towers and lines. Make it convincing enough to fool any surveillance that might be watching."
"Yes, sir!"
The team members immediately scattered, expertly unloading various tools from the truck and setting to work with convincing professionalism. Their movements appeared casual, but every step was part of Ye Li's plan, intended to create a flawless illusion of work.
Apollo personally led an elite five-man squad toward the entrance to the Power Plant's main building, together with Ye Li.
Time had long since eaten away at the heavy iron double doors, leaving them mottled with dark red rust like dried blood. An enormous warning sign hung on them, bearing a sinister skull and black lettering against a yellow background. Beneath it were the words "Danger: high voltage. No entry."
One team member stepped forward and took a specially made set of hydraulic cutters and lockpicking tools from his tool bag. He used no explosives. With exceptionally delicate movements, he worked on the lock cylinder, and after a few faint sounds of scraping metal, the lock
