In the quiet depths of the sea.
A dark shape streaked past.
The enormous Black Spirit Chicken turned its neck swiftly, its two keen eyes catching the dark shape.
"A fish?"
The wariness in the Black Spirit Chicken's eyes eased slightly.
A thick layer of spiritual power quietly rose over its body. Tightening its grip on the Jade Fire Parasol Tree below, which remained unaffected by the seawater, it spread its wings slightly and sped through the sea, looking at first glance like a manta ray.
But before long, it discovered to its surprise that a large patch of the spiritual power covering its body had silently corroded away.
This seawater seemed unlike the seas it had encountered before, carrying a faint hint of corrosiveness.
What is going on?
The Black Spirit Chicken felt a slight chill of apprehension.
Its neck twisted in a circle at an astonishing angle.
It took in everything in the surrounding waters.
Yet it found that the fish here seemed unaffected, swimming leisurely through the sea.
Only their size was extraordinarily large.
This discovery put it somewhat at ease.
It should be fine...
Despite thinking this, it felt a little more urgency.
Its wings shifted slightly in the current, and its speed increased a little more.
But soon, it could not help stopping again.
Ahead, in the dark depths, large numbers of fish, shrimp, crabs, sea snakes, and other creatures had gathered at some point.
These sea creatures were bizarrely shaped, coming in every possible form, yet all seemed somewhat fishlike.
They formed a huge sphere, their heads facing inward, as though competing for something.
At the same time, the Black Spirit Chicken detected a strange smell spreading through the seawater.
It hesitated slightly, but curiosity still prompted it to extend its spiritual sense.
