Ch. 397Kil'sorrow Fortress

Patrick led the Blood Elf army through Nagrand toward Kil'sorrow Fortress, using arcane bombs to break the Fel Orcs’ defense. After the troops reached the fortress, he ordered Shars to bombard it and sent Mathis and Loramus to eliminate the remaining demons.

  • Patrick showed Shars Vorrein Kael'thas's authorization, and Shars joined the army heading southwest.
  • General Tyrith and Bishop Nasuun saw the Blood Elf army pass Shattrath without attacking and continue through the Bone Wastes into Nagrand.
  • Loramus sensed demons near the mountain pass, and scouts reported Fel Orcs blocking the route to Kil'sorrow Fortress.
  • Patrick ordered Shars to throw arcane bombs at the Fel Orcs, scattering their forces and clearing the way forward.
  • Gisda drained the soul of a wounded spellbinder and prepared to defend Kil'sorrow Fortress, but Patrick ordered Shars to bomb it while Mathis and Loramus cleared out the remaining demons.

Ch. 398Lantresor of the Burning Blade

Patrick’s army destroyed Kil’sorrow Fortress and its Shadow Council forces, then encountered Lantresor of the Burning Blade near the ruins. Lantresor declined Patrick’s offer of partnership and remained responsible for his Stonefist Ogre followers as Patrick continued north.

  • Shals Vorrein bombarded Kil’sorrow Fortress, and Alleria ordered the troops to advance along two routes and attack the surviving demons’ lackeys.
  • Mathis and Loramus led their forces into the fortress, where they wiped out the Shadow Binders and other cultists before the Blood Elf army burned the fortress down.
  • As Patrick led the army north, he sensed someone spying on them and confronted Lantresor of the Burning Blade, who emerged from hiding.
  • Lantresor explained that he had investigated the attack because the Shadow Council’s forces had targeted his Stonefist Ogres, and Patrick confirmed that Kil’sorrow Fortress had been destroyed.
  • Patrick said he was searching for a Night Elf and offered Lantresor a partnership, but Lantresor said he had people to look after and did not join him.
  • Patrick continued leading his army north.

Ch. 400The Dwarven Hunting Party

Patrick encountered Hemet Nesingwary’s hunting party and learned that a Demon Hunter riding a nether dragon had gone from Halaa toward Sunspring Lake. He led his army west, intending to pass through Garadar peacefully and continue the search.

  • Patrick questioned Hemet Nesingwary, who recognized him as the Regent of Quel'Thalas and explained that his party had come to hunt in Nagrand.
  • Hemet told Patrick that a Demon Hunter and nether dragon had been seen near Halaa before heading to Sunspring Lake, while Harold Lane warned that Darkblood Lost Ones and demon camps blocked the route.
  • Patrick released the hunting party and ordered his troops west toward Sunspring Watchpost.
  • Mag'har scouts reported the approaching Blood Elf army to Garadar, prompting Jorin Deadeye and the orcs to prepare for a possible attack.
  • Patrick sent Mathis to negotiate passage through Garadar, assuring the orcs that his forces did not want to fight.

Ch. 401Garadar

Patrick led a Blood Elf force to Garadar and sought permission to cross Mag'har territory, hoping to build goodwill with Garrosh and the Orcs. The meeting ended with Garrosh leaving the decision to the others, while Jorin and the prophets remained faced with Patrick's request.

  • Jorin and Prophet Kaurhuk watched Patrick's approaching force and debated whether the Mag'har could risk trusting them.
  • Jorin asked Patrick to meet in person after Mathis reported that the Blood Elves wanted to pass through their territory.
  • Patrick left most of his army behind and went to Garadar with Mathis, Alleria, Kyrissa, and others to negotiate.
  • Jorin demanded to know why Patrick would not take the shorter route through Halaa, and Patrick explained the danger of marching through its chokepoints.
  • Garrosh, looking dispirited, left the decision to the others, frustrating Jorin and the prophets.

Ch. 402The truth of the matter

Patrick explained the truth about Grom Hellscream’s actions and death, correcting the account Hemet Nesingwary had given Garrosh. Garrosh recovered his resolve and ordered Garadar’s gates opened for Patrick and his companions.

  • Patrick confirmed that Grom had drunk demon blood and killed Cenarius, while Jorin explained how Hemet had insulted the orcs and blamed them for driving his party out of Garadar.
  • Patrick recounted how Grom killed Cenarius under Mannoroth’s influence, later broke free of the demon’s control, and died killing Mannoroth to free the orcs from the demon blood curse.
  • Patrick explained that Hemet’s account had omitted Grom’s motives and sacrifice, while also noting that Cenarius had been protecting the forest and the druids’ territory.
  • Garrosh flew into a rage over Hemet’s account and demanded to know where the dwarf had gone.
  • Garrosh regained his role as leader and ordered the gates opened to let Patrick and the blood elf companions pass.

Ch. 403Molten Core

Marshal Windsor exposed Countess Katrana Prestor as Onyxia, but she escaped Stormwind Keep after killing him. Meanwhile, Lorne Songweaver and Lina-Klaisf-Imbas prepared adventurers to raid Blackrock Spire and gather materials for the Regent.

  • Marshal Windsor revealed Katrana Prestor's true form as Onyxia, who killed him and fled Stormwind Keep while Bolvar and the First Legion defeated her forces.
  • Lorne Songweaver organized a group of adventurers in the Burning Steppes to raid Blackrock Spire for materials requested by the Regent.
  • Lina-Klaisf-Imbas explained that the adventurers accepted a deal to keep equipment while the group took materials, since the materials were more valuable to Quel'Thalas.
  • Lorne and Lina discussed finding Lokhtos Darkbargainer, High Elemental Arcanist Krixix, and a way to forge the Sulfuron Hammer.
  • Lina said the group would advance toward Blackrock Spire once everyone was ready.

Ch. 404Taking the watchpost

Patrick led the blood elves into Nagrand to find the demon hunter Altruis, and agreed to help Garrosh and the Mag'har reclaim Sunspring Watchpost. After retaking the watchpost, Patrick established a temporary camp as Kael'thas prepared to commit fully to Kil'jaeden and Patrick's plans approached their next stage.

  • Patrick left Garadar with the blood elf army, and Garrosh joined him to search for Dranosh and his soldiers.
  • Loramus detected traces of fel near Forge Camp: Hate and confirmed that a demon hunter, likely Altruis, had been there.
  • Garrosh reunited with Dranosh and the Mag'har elders, who asked Patrick to help defeat the Darkblood Lost Ones at Sunspring Watchpost.
  • Patrick agreed to help, and the blood elves and Mag'har attacked Sunspring Watchpost from two sides, killing Darkblood Chieftain Otohr and scattering the defenders.
  • Garrosh found and freed Mag'har prisoners who said the Darkblood Lost Ones had tortured them to learn the location of Khadgar's Totem.
  • Patrick ordered a temporary camp built at the retaken watchpost, while Kael'thas prepared to side completely with Kil'jaeden.

Ch. 405Altruis

After Altruis arrived at Sunspring Watchpost, Patrick argued that Illidan had attacked the Frozen Throne under Kil'jaeden’s orders and was using demonic power without becoming Kil'jaeden’s puppet. Altruis reconsidered Illidan’s motives as Patrick explained that Kil'jaeden monitored him while drawing Kael'thas into corruption.

  • After several days at Sunspring Watchpost, Patrick sensed Altruis approaching on Nethrandamus, and Altruis reunited with Loramus.
  • Loramus told Altruis that Patrick had hired him to make contact with Illidan and seek cooperation against the Burning Legion.
  • Altruis questioned Patrick’s claim that Illidan had not gone mad, and Patrick explained that Illidan had attacked the Frozen Throne because Kil'jaeden had ordered him to.
  • Patrick argued that Illidan was absorbing demonic power and keeping it under his own control, unlike Ner'zhul and Gul'dan, who had become Kil'jaeden’s servants.
  • Altruis was shaken as Patrick explained that Kil'jaeden kept Legion forces in Outland to watch Illidan, while Kael'thas’s contact with Kil'jaeden was allowing Fel to consume his soul.

Ch. 406Forge Camps

Patrick persuaded Altruis to help him contact Illidan, and Altruis agreed to do so after Patrick destroyed Forge Camp: Fear and Forge Camp: Hatred and killed their overseers. Patrick delayed the assault while Blood Elf and Mag'har forces secured Halaa and expanded their control across central and northern Nagrand.

  • Patrick asked Altruis to introduce him to Illidan so Illidan could verify his theory about preparing to oppose Kil'jaeden.
  • Altruis required Patrick to destroy Forge Camp: Fear and Forge Camp: Hatred and kill Xirkos and Demos before taking him to Illidan.
  • Altruis explained that Conqueror Razelikh was repairing the Dark Portal at Twilight Ridge and that his subordinates had built the two Forge Camps.
  • Patrick agreed to Altruis's conditions and asked Alleria to arrange lodging for Altruis and his nether drake.
  • Garrosh returned with the Mag'har caravan, and Dranosh and Jorin Deadeye sent Orcs to secure Halaa's suspension bridges.
  • Blood Elf and Mag'har forces took positions across Halaa and expanded their control over central and northern Nagrand, while Patrick postponed the Forge Camp assault.

Ch. 407Different factions, the same decision (Part one)

Horde leaders discussed their Outland campaign, weighing the rescue of their people against the threat posed by Kael'thas, Illidan, and Vashj. Vol'jin proposed using the Sha'tar to destroy Kael'thas's forces, a plan Thrall favored because it could weaken Quel'Thalas.

  • Thrall learned from Nazgrel's reports that Mag'har Orcs lived in Garadar, and he resolved to rescue them; Saurfang was overjoyed that his son Dranosh was alive and untainted.
  • Horde leaders learned that Kael'thas was in Tempest Keep, Illidan was at the Black Temple, and Vashj was at Coilfang Reservoir, with Kael'thas and Illidan reportedly serving the demons.
  • Hamul Runetotem reported that Vashj's actions had damaged Zangarmarsh, prompting the Cenarion Circle to act.
  • Vol'jin argued that the Horde should eliminate Kael'thas if he had truly allied with demons, warning that Quel'Thalas's strength made its return to Azeroth dangerous.
  • Saurfang warned that attacking Kael'thas could end the Horde's cooperation and trade with Quel'Thalas, but Thrall recognized that he wanted the Blood Elf kingdom weakened.
  • Vol'jin proposed that the Horde clear a road to Netherstorm so the Sha'tar could attack Kael'thas and destroy Quel'Thalas's elite forces under the pretext of fighting demons.

Ch. 408Different factions, the same decision (Part two)

Thrall and Varian each planned to weaken Quel'Thalas and use its strained relations with other powers to draw the Blood Elves into their respective factions. In Stormwind, Varian proposed eliminating Kael'thas and turning the weakened Quel'Thalas into an Alliance asset, while the Alliance leaders considered the plan.

  • Vol'jin's remarks clarified Thrall's plan to let the Horde help eliminate Kael'thas, weaken Quel'Thalas, and draw the Blood Elves into the Horde through Sylvanas.
  • After Onyxia escaped, Mathias Shaw and Bolvar purged Stormwind's nobles, and the House of Lords shelved policies Katrana Prestor had created for the city.
  • Jaina and Aegwynn helped both Varians recover their memories, but could not reverse the magic that had split them, so one took charge of domestic affairs and the other shared military duties with Bolvar.
  • Mathias Shaw briefed Varian, King Magni, Gelbin Mekkatorque, and Bolvar on Alliance forces and their intelligence about Outland.
  • Varian proposed eliminating Kael'thas, weakening Quel'Thalas, and using Dalaran and the hatred left by the Second War to draw the Blood Elves into the Alliance's political sphere.
  • The Dwarves and Gnomes agreed with Varian, seeing the plan as a way to weaken Quel'Thalas and extend the Alliance's influence over Kul Tiras and Stromgarde.

Ch. 409Action

Patrick led an assault on Forge Camp: Hate, using the Blue Dragons and Rangers to suppress the Fel Cannons before his troops captured the camp. With Huili Sandeguer controlling the cannons, Patrick prepared to use them against the other forge camp.

  • Patrick explained that the Blue Dragons would disable Forge Camp: Hate’s Fel Cannons while his troops attacked, and Garrosh’s Mag'har Orcs would guard the suspension bridge.
  • Prophet Kaurhuk agreed to have Garrosh hold the route rather than expose the Mag'har Orcs to a costly battle.
  • The three Mother Raptors and Alleria’s Rangers harassed Forge Camp: Hate until Patrick’s army launched its assault and killed the Eredar demon overseer.
  • Huili Sandeguer obtained the Fel Cannon key and summoned demons to operate the cannons for Patrick.
  • Patrick had Huili use the cannons to destroy the camp’s Teleportation Magic Circles and other facilities, convincing Altruis that they could attack the other forge camp the same way.

Ch. 411Danath's decision

Danath received Galin’s account of Stromgarde’s crisis and decided to return home with his troops, handing Honor Hold over to the Alliance. In Shadowmoon Valley, Kurdran read Falstad’s letter and asked after the Wildhammer dwarves at Aerie Peak.

  • A messenger from Stromgarde told Danath that the Scourge had devastated the kingdom and that Stromgarde feared annexation by the Alliance.
  • Danath learned that Galin planned to cooperate with the blood elves and send Stormwind forces to take over Honor Hold.
  • Danath ordered his troops to prepare for the return to Stromgarde and to contact the Alliance about handing over the fortress.
  • Danath decided to return after reading that Thoradin Trollbane had fallen in battle.
  • Ammish Wildhammer delivered Falstad’s letter to Kurdran at Wildhammer Hold, and Kurdran asked how their kin at Aerie Peak were doing.

Ch. 412Kurdran

Kurdran learned that Stromgarde’s troops would return to Azeroth and help stabilize Stromgarde, and he planned to take the Wildhammer Dwarves back to Aerie Peak. With Danath also returning, Kurdran hoped Stromgarde and Aerie Peak could join forces and defend their independence.

  • Ammish Wildhammer told Kurdran that Stromgarde’s people would return to Azeroth to stabilize their homeland.
  • Kurdran reflected on Lordaeron’s fall, Stormwind’s growing power, and the Wildhammer Dwarves’ history of displacement and limited influence among stronger nations.
  • Kurdran learned Danath would return to Azeroth and began to hope that Stromgarde and Aerie Peak could unite as a major power.
  • Kurdran concluded that Danath’s troops and his own Wildhammer Dwarves could help Stromgarde and Aerie Peak preserve their neutral status.

Ch. 413Forge Camp: Fear

After capturing the fel cannons, Patrick’s army used them to bombard Forge Camp: Fear. Hilkus the Dreadwatcher sent his forces charging toward the blood elves, leaving the battle poised for a direct assault.

  • Patrick returned to Sunspring Watchpost with the army while Lady Hui Li’s warlocks enslaved demons and moved the captured fel cannons away from the living quarters.
  • Patrick reminded Altruis that he expected an introduction to Illidan after the next forge camp fell, and Loramus said he also wanted to meet Illidan.
  • Huili Sandeguer’s warlocks positioned the fel cannons and fired on Forge Camp: Fear, killing large numbers of demons with their blasts.
  • Hilkus the Dreadwatcher realized the enemy had captured Deimos’s cannons and feared Razelikh’s punishment if the portal was destroyed.
  • Hilkus ordered the Mo'arg, felguards, Gan'arg, and other demons to charge through the cannon fire at the blood elf forces.

Ch. 414Black Temple

Patrick destroyed the final demon forge in Nagrand and then traveled with Altruis and Loramus to the Black Temple in Shadowmoon Valley. Their unexpected arrival alerted High Nethermancer Sailervor, who learned that three powerful visitors had used a Tempest Keep-linked teleportation spell.

  • Patrick and Sals used Fel Cannons and Arcane Bombs to destroy the demons at Forge Camp: Fear, while the Blood Elf forces killed the wounded Hilkus.
  • After the forge fell, Patrick left Alleria in command at Sunspring Watchpost and prepared to return to Shadowmoon Valley.
  • Patrick rejected Loramus's dangerous ground route and teleported himself, Altruis, and Loramus directly to the Black Temple.
  • At the Black Temple, the Illidari Council administered the temple and its forces, with Sailervor overseeing magical energy supplies.
  • A guard reported to Sailervor that three individuals of Legendary rank or higher had arrived through the Teleportation Chamber, including two possibly at Immortal tier.

Ch. 415Illidan (Part One)

Patrick Cabrolon, Altruis, and Loramus Thalipedes arrived at the Black Temple to meet Illidan. Altruis introduced Patrick as the regent of Quel'Thalas, and Illidan studied him warily.

  • Sailervor saw the teleportation runes and arranged for someone to wait at the Teleportation Chamber's entrance.
  • Patrick, Loramus, and Altruis appeared in Fate Hall, startling the blood elves there.
  • Patrick asked to see Illidan, but Altruis led the group directly to the Temple Summit while Sailervor summoned Lady Malande, Gathios, and Vel'rilles Deep Shadow.
  • Illidan greeted Altruis and Loramus, who had both once followed him, and learned that Altruis had returned without intending to rejoin the Black Temple.
  • Altruis introduced Patrick as the regent of Quel'Thalas, and Illidan silently studied him after Patrick offered a respectful greeting.

Ch. 416Illidan (Part Two)

Patrick proposed that Illidan feign complete allegiance to Kil'jaeden and provoke her into coming to Azeroth through the Sunwell, where she could be defeated. Illidan considered the plan as the Alliance and Horde expedition threatened the Black Temple.

  • Patrick explained that he had asked Altruis and Loramus to bring him to the Black Temple rather than seek an introduction from Kael'thas.
  • Patrick confronted the Illidari Council over its secret activities and said that Illidan alone stood as Dath'Remar Sunstrider's equal.
  • Patrick told Illidan to pledge himself completely to Kil'jaeden and declare war on every other race and living being.
  • Patrick explained that Illidan could feign desperation when the Black Temple faced defeat, then help summon Kil'jaeden to Azeroth through the Sunwell.
  • Illidan weighed Patrick's plan, considering that Kil'jaeden might share Archimonde's fate because of the Well of Eternity.

Ch. 417Settling on a plan

Patrick persuaded Illidan that Kil'jaeden could be summoned to Azeroth and that the Black Temple could be used to protect Quel'Thalas, giving Illidan a reason to fight. Illidan agreed to provoke the Sha'tar, Alliance, and Horde, and sent Patrick to bring Vashj back to Azeroth.

  • Illidan concluded that Archimonde's death showed that even a powerful false god could be killed and listened as Patrick explained Azeroth's ley line defenses.
  • Patrick proposed that Illidan provoke the Sha'tar, Alliance, and Horde while withdrawing the Black Temple's defensive lines, so the Black Temple forces could later help guard Quel'Thalas.
  • Illidan asked Patrick to retrieve Vashj from Zangarmarsh and gave him the Stormrage family's signet ring as proof of his authority.
  • Patrick accepted the task and said he would travel via Zangarmarsh to bring Vashj and his troops from Nagrand back to Azeroth.
  • Illidan ordered the demons, Fel Orcs, and Lost Ones on the front lines to assemble for battle and kept the Four Council as the Illidari Council's highest-ranking members despite their exposed identities as spies.

Ch. 418Oshu'gun (Part One)

Garrosh discovered that Oshu'gun was overrun by hostile creatures and could not retake it without risking Garadar. After Jorin urged him to seek help from the Blood Elves, Garrosh went to Alleria to ask for aid.

  • Greatmother Geyah prepared a potion that helped Garrosh recover his spirits, and he visited Mother Kashur at the Ancestor's Grounds.
  • Garrosh learned that the ancestral spirits had grown restless and that the area around Oshu'gun was occupied by Void creatures, rampaging elementals, bandage-wrapped thieves, and Burning Legion demons.
  • Mother Kashur told Garrosh that the ancestral spirits near Oshu'gun had begun favoring the Orcs again, but Garrosh could not spare enough troops to reclaim the sacred mountain.
  • Jorin urged Garrosh to ask the Blood Elves for help, arguing that they had already aided the Mag'har Orcs.
  • Garrosh returned to Sunspring Watchpost and approached Alleria, who was overseeing the Blood Elf army.
