During the early grind, he considers leveling essential because higher levels unlock more game features. He also warns teammates not to jeopardize story quests through careless remarks 3 6 10.

His confidence is tempered by practical caution. He identifies unfavorable damage matchups, withdraws when a charge fails, and buys time instead of insisting on a direct contest. He also questions overly optimistic assumptions about abilities, pointing out that a contact-based interruption skill is useless if its user cannot reach the boss 8 25 26 88.

He is nevertheless willing to provoke opponents for entertainment or advantage. He publicly exposes personal information about Shrek Academy's contestants and gives Xuan Ziwen a valuable design partly to obstruct Huo Yuhao. He openly rejects the idea that he is magnanimous, treating the protagonist as another NPC rather than someone entitled to special consideration 36 38 41 58.

Formation-Breaking Overlord Spear

Ten-Year Veteran takes an early leadership role during the attack on the Ironblood Sect. He lands the killing blow on Tie Tang, earning the game's first-boss-kill reward, then charges the two Soul King elders despite knowing they can kill him. During the continued battle, he refines his martial soul and first ring, wounds Tie Li, and orders players to prevent the elders from escaping 2 3 4.

He subsequently leads the Assault Team through repeated self-destruct missions against Evil Soul Masters, becoming the first player to reach level 30. Against Death's Hand, he modifies that approach: players fight conventionally first, reserving explosives for low health. He helps defeat Deathbringer, though the boss's body bomb still kills everyone in the cave 6 7 8.

Soul Master Tournament

After reaching rank 40, he fights for the New Tang Sect Academy Team. He helps execute the opening trap-and-attack victory, then uses his newly awakened steed to defeat Blue Sky Academy's captain and outlast its second Soul King 15 19 20.

His later matches frequently involve protecting the team's artillery preparations. He holds Jiang Peng's attention during the quarterfinals and prevents Meng Hongchen from reaching Qian Xixi in the semifinal, continuing to interfere despite Ice Toad Poison. The Thunder Giant Cannon's eventual blast sends him to the Respawn Point but secures the team's victory 21 22 26.

In the finals, he defeats Xixi and overwhelms Bei Bei. At his teammates' urging, he publicly identifies Yu Xiaogang and Liu Erlong as first cousins and attributes Bei Bei's Holy Light Dragon bloodline to them, provoking Xuan Zi's threats. He then reveals Huo Yuhao's parentage, defeats him through his ice defenses, and exposes Wang Dong's male disguise before winning the final match with his fusion skill. The New Tang Sect Academy Team is declared tournament champion 35 36 37 38 39 41.

World Boss and Holy Spirit Cult Battles

Against the Darkgolden Terrorclaw Bear World Boss, his armor penetration creates an opening for the other players. He ultimately finishes it with Overlord's Might and receives the final-hit announcement 47 48.

He later leads the elite squad into a Holy Spirit Cult branch altar and kills the Second Holy Son after I Am an Angel exposes an opening. Following the mission, he asks Ghost Nana to announce the New Tang Sect's intended visit to her academy 54 55.

When Ten Thousand Souls Douluo seeks revenge, Ten-Year Veteran helps plan the encounter and contributes damage across its phases. He survives a nearly fatal punch, lands a fusion attack during a distraction, and tests whether attacking the Ten Thousand Souls Banner can affect the boss's soul phase 70 72 73 74 75.

Sun Moon Empire and Later Operations

At the Sun Moon Imperial Soul Engineering Academy, he gives Xuan Ziwen a Zhuge Divine Ballista as a calculated investment. He later infiltrates the academy under a Concealment Cloak and joins the players confronting Noumenon Sect disciples during the Snow Empress operation 58 80 84.

After participating in the pursuit of Zhang Peng, he is killed by Long Xiaoyao's arrival. The subsequent quest rewards raise him to level 60. In the battle against Zhao Yang, he combines buffs with his spear's armor penetration to pierce the enemy's Martial Soul True Body, then withdraws before the counterattack 100 101 106.

At the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, he gives the order to fire the players' artillery ambush at Er Ming and Huo Yuhao. Er Ming protects both targets with a pale-yellow barrier 140.

• Qian Xixi — Frequent frontline partner. He leaves the initial Shrek dialogue to Qian Xixi, helps hold Cheng Gang back during a quest-item retrieval, and protects Qian Xixi from Meng Hongchen's poison 9 18 26.
• I Am an Angel — Fellow team leader and damage specialist. He recognizes the value of her angel attacks against Evil Soul Masters and coordinates frontline pressure around her damage 8 54.
