Pietro set down his bowl, leaned back in his chair, and let out a long breath.
"Boss, I'm suddenly starting to think working for you isn't so bad."
Wanda glared at him.
"Is that any way to speak to our lord? You just said you were willing to pay any price."
"I still am." Pietro wiped his mouth. "But if I get to eat like this every day, I think I could pay that price for the rest of my life."
Wanda motioned for him to shut up, but she couldn't help laughing herself.
Simona came in from outside at just the right moment and bowed her head respectfully. "My lord, the clearing work on the building's first floor is complete, and the site has been cleaned up. Reconstruction will still take some time. Would you like to stay there for the next few days?"
Lucian nodded.
As expected of someone handpicked by Hydra, she was certainly efficient.
He led Wanda and Pietro into an empty room, then raised a hand and closed the door.
Pietro and Wanda exchanged a glance, their hearts suddenly racing. They knew the main event had arrived.
Lucian took out the Mind Stone Scepter and placed it before them.
The gem at its tip shone, overpowering even the lights in the room.
"That's it?"
Pietro stared at the scepter, a little more wary now.
"It can give us power?"
"Yes." Lucian gripped the scepter. "But the process might hurt a little."
Pietro glanced at Wanda.
"Are you scared?"
Wanda didn't answer. She simply stepped forward and nodded firmly. "We're ready."
She knew very well that she and her brother had no way back.
Since Lucian was willing to give them a chance to change their fate, they couldn't stop because of pain.
