Xie Yanci leaned down and kissed his wife on the lips.
He did not linger. It was windy downstairs, and they went into the elevator together.
Xu Shi rented a one-bedroom apartment with a living room. There were three units on the same floor, and his was at the very end of the hallway.
Xie Yanci disliked the long, enclosed hallway intensely. Before leaving, he had specifically told Secretary Zhou to look for an apartment in an upscale residential complex.
He wanted to give it to Xu Shi.
But he was also afraid that if it had more than one bedroom, he would no longer have an excuse to sleep in the same room as Xu Shi.
Tsk.
Not having the status of a married couple really sucked.
"Beep-"
The keypad lock opened.
Xu Shi got him a pair of fluffy slippers and glanced at the gift box he was carrying. "Did you see Gu Shixu? Did you teach him a good lesson for me?"
"I suppose you could call it that." Xie Yanci handed Xu Shi the gift box containing the necklace.
He had never dealt with this sort of rich kid who did not know his place, so he did not know whether what he had just done counted as teaching him a lesson.
He intended to "ask" President Gu to teach his own son a proper lesson.
Xu Shi did not pay much attention. His gaze was entirely drawn to the pure white gift box.
He set it on the coffee table and slowly opened it.
Under the light, the diamond was crystal clear and felt nice to the touch, though it was a little small.
"How much did you pay for it?" Xu Shi asked.
"I forgot." Xie Yanci never paid attention to such small sums.
