Ge Xiaolun shuddered.
His lips trembled, and countless thoughts surged through his mind.
Why had I joined the Super Soldier Company in the first place?
Why had I agreed to go onto the battlefield?
He was just an ordinary person. He only wanted to live, only wanted to go home and see his parents...
Those thoughts coiled around his limbs like venomous snakes, leaving him kneeling in the ruins, not daring to move.
"Damn it! Qiangwei, you're mobile. Go bring Ge Xiaolun over!"
Rena's voice rang out over the comms, carrying an urgency that brooked no argument.
Qiangwei was clearing out a squad of Taotie sentries in midair. At the order, she glanced down toward where Ge Xiaolun had fallen.
Her expression turned cold, and her lips pressed into a thin line, but she would not disobey Rena's orders.
She spread her wings, changed direction, and dove toward the Shopping Mall's ruins.
Soon, she landed beside Ge Xiaolun.
"Get up."
Qiangwei's voice was ice-cold.
Ge Xiaolun looked up at her. His lips moved twice, but he still did not budge.
"I said, get up!"
Qiangwei grabbed his arm and hauled him upward. "You're the Galaxy Power, not some piece of trash cowering in the ruins waiting to die!"
"I'm not trash..."
Dragged stumbling to his feet, Ge Xiaolun finally forced the words out of his throat, his voice hoarse and on the verge of breaking. "I just... I just wasn't ready."
"Who ever was?"
Qiangwei flung his arm aside and turned her back on him, her red hair tracing a clean arc in the wind. "You think everyone else waited until they were ready before going into battle? Qilin is still only a first generation super soldier, and Zhao Xin doesn't even have a decent weapon. Aren't they fighting anyway?"
